ABF buys new trucks every year. After 3 years many are put into the P&D, and others sold.

Last year they held off buying new tractors because of the questionable outcome of the new contract.
Good thing they are building/built a new HQ worth $30 million :biggrin_2556:

Let's be honest though. We don't have spanking shiny equipment at every terminal lmao

Ya, last year was the exception. I think only 5 road tractors were bought. Be over 400 this year to catch up.
I got alot of breakdown time last year.

Holland isnt top tier? we get paid for EVERYTHING we do, not just cpm. we dont pay 100 a week for mediocre benefits either, and the wife is always eligble, whether she has other ins available or not. lots of guys still making around 6 figures at Holland, many carriers will pay a higher cpm because of our 15% giveback, but these carriers dont pay for your line 4 time.....

the pension contribution depends where you are at, im in ny state pension, and none of the 401k matches come close to the 25% that we get. OD only puts in 30 for every 1000 gross, thats nothing.

ABF drivers get paid for everything they do.. as well as other LTL companies. Nothing special there.. unless you talk to an OTR driver at a mega who is clueless about everything.
    Whos the best?
    I don't know

I know this article is written with a political slant. The data and what our citizens think are the relevant points. To me the transfer of wealth to the very rich should not be political. It endangers the entire middle class of our country. the very rich hold huge huge fortunes in cash or cash equivilants and that lone stifles our economy.

Here is my .02 if anyone wants it
Been in this business for about 20yrs now and have done most of it in one form or another and I always find it funny that one guy always thinks he works harder then another .
Had union gigs drove the greydog hated every minute listen to others tell me I made to much $$$ when in fact it didn't pay enough for the rules and BS I had to deal with but it was most definitely work.
Did LTL interline bumped 10+ docks a day did the line Cheyenne to RockSprings and back at 4am every day with a Rocky set most definitely work .
Hauled oversize most definitely work .
Done OTR probably the least amount of work but also the least amount of $$$ and the the 2nd amount of BS lying dispatch or brokers but still less then a drunk on a bus.
Oil field is where I found the best fit for me for the last couple of years mostly driving the phone and a pickup as an area operations manager most definitely the most work now taking one of my trucks back out of mothballs and getting back in the seat for a bit .
Point is if you think the other guy has it better go be the other guy but the grass is not always greener and after wearing hall these hats I respect every job out there and feel very sorry for some
