12volt power wont bite you unless you like putting the lleads on your tongue. So no getting zapped. Perfectly safe for you to do a splice repair with solderless connections. If your a company driver, you will need to inform your DM that your truck will need to come in for a new cord. Hopefully your dog wont do it again. If it does the company may ask you to leave the dog at home.
