Yeah, but I do a full twist on each side. Rolls the center kind of like a rope and never moves. My OCD will not allow me to go down the road with a strap that is moving. And the 4" straps on the tall crate came up a little short so I had to use a 5/16 chain as an extender. I had guys telling me all weekend that is "was against the rules" ... Of course they waddle back to their freight boxes and kept of truckin lol

I've had to do that with hay before. My straps wouldnt make it all the way over.

I do that for tarp loads too Rob.
Run a chain down one side and hook straps into it.

I made some short chains up just for that exact deal on our step deck.

I always grab 4'' straps with the chain hooks that guys are tossing out, because there cut.
Cut the strap off and you have a perfect strap extender.
The big triangle will take up to a 3'' strap hook..

I've ran straps up and hooked them to other straps hauling loads of small bales of hay and ran through scales with it and no one even flinched at it.

I don't know, if they find out you twist your straps, they may refuse to serve you
