What laws are these? Last time I checked we are already exporting oil. How do laws prohibit this when we are already taking part in these practices?

I watched the economy tank in 2008-09 because of high fuel prices. I personally believe that lower fuel prices will have the opposite effect. Who knows, maybe we will be able to get decent jobs at home instead of moving out to the patch? Just because one sector "might" have some trouble ahead doesn't necassarily mean that its all bad. Just keep your finances in order, eyes...and options... open.

Could be. Hope so. But there are a lot more people not working now then back then. And fuel prices weren't the cause of collapse. Didn't see any oil companies involved in real estate scams. Big banks and our wonderful elected officials set up that scam. But if you have been working and saving busts are good times to buy everything. Fuel. Homes. Vehicles. etc. And those that went out and bought the new home that was too big and the pickup that was too big and all the electronics and other things we all love will lose some or all of it. You have it right. Worry about your own situation and do your own planning. Never wait or count on any elected official to do right by you.

We agree on most things, but I will always believe that those high fuel prices soaked up every penny of spendable income that was in people's pocket. The money that was being spent on electronics, vacations...even going out to eat dissappeared and spending stopped..causing the recession.

I do agree that there were other associated factors, but the flow of money is always the key factor. The money was all going into gas tanks...nothing else. The banking scandals etc were just the weak links that got exposed when the water got hot.

    Lol no. Just.... no.

There is literally not an ounce of evidence to suggest your "theory" holds even an ounce of truth nor a single economist that supports that idea.

Sorry man, you're entitled to your opinion and all, but that "theory" is just ridiculous.

Yes, & enriching those in the gas business. In the last many years the small companies have been bought out by the 'big boys' who have raided the citizens of this country's pocketbooks.

And it seem this is happening in all business, the 'big boys' buy out & are putting the 'small boys' out of business because of the favors they buy from our politicians who are getting rich doing this.

And of course the 'big boys' are the one who buys favors from our politicians, & the 'little boys' do not have the money to buy such favors.

We once had a cement plant just south of us & the 'big boys' bought it out & shut it down so they could sell their product at higher prices without so much competition. They also bought out several more across this country shutting them down too.

Just watched a program that says if oil falls below $70 a barrel it will no longer be profitable to drill for oil and will make the oil field towns in ND ghost towns.
