Hey everyone I'm trying to get into tucking. I'm going to try and go to a private cdl school near my house but if that falls through I'm going to try to go to Millie at the Trenton Ohio school. I just applied online and I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what the next step in the process is. Also, I was wondering how much money I will need to get through school for food and stuff until I get a paycheck. I'm pretty strapped for money right now but I think I can come up with the 500 for school just wondering how much else you all usually took for food etc.

Just depends on if they provide any meals while in training and how long it will be before you receive first pay. I went through FFE/KLLM in Fort Worth Texas and they provided breakfast and supper plus gave us orientation pay the day after we finished orientation. My friend however went through SWIFT, they provided breakfast and lunch but first pay is not for two weeks. Ask, Ask, Ask questions to anybody who has been.

Honestly I hope you have a substantial nest egg before you start. You better hope your trainer driver takes pity on you. Living on the road will cost you dearly even buying food and putting it in a refridgerator isnt cheap and your paychecks with millis with the miles you will cover during your training will come to les than minimum wage. I am a driver for Millis and have been researching other companies for the last 6 months to be able to leave with the least amount of hassle of making the change. Millis doesnt care about their drivers well being....only about their equipment. They really dont care about turnover as they graduate enough greenhorn drivers to fill the vacancies left by experienced drivers. Use the company to your advantage. Get your training, get some miles under your belt, then run away as fast as you can. I admit there are far more worse companies out there than Millis, but there are a good deal of better ones too.

What's wrong with being from Eastern Ky where I'm from, or the Ozarks for that matter lol. I use my accent with pride, call us hillbillies, rednecks, whatever, still proud to be from the mountains. Besides, I guarantee you that you won't find anywhere with a lower cost of living.

Absolutely nothing wrong with eastern Kentucky! My dad is from Clay County ( Manchester) and my mother is from Laurel County ( London) I was a little annoyed with the other comment that was made
( see powder joints post) my response was aimed towards that. It was not aimed at you and sorry if it came across that way.

I hope you take this post with a grain of salt and not rely on the opinion of one disgruntled driver. I, personally, have had a good experience with Millis for the last two years. Please do your research, call recruiting and ask questions, and talk to other drivers so you can make an informed decision. All companies/jobs have their ups and downs, that's why they call it work. ..lol. PM me if you have any questions, I will try to answer them as honestly as possible , whether it's good or bad.

The grain of salt, that should be taken is that only newbies post here, veteran drivers do not like working here. This is your first company Harley, right, what are you basing your thoughts on?
