Well, take a look at this. HTLD was up Friday, closed $24.16 and the market was aware of the announcement by Travis on the GTI web site at 10 am. Looks like HTLD's closing up a walloping 50-cents/share.

    Right now I see $24.66/share.

I wish them nothing but continued success. I have no ill will towards Heartland or Gordon, except for what I truly think of the way Heartland operates. But that's my opinion of them, and by speaking to others here and on the road, I'm not alone in that sentiment. Even so, with 5,000 or better in their company being employed, I never want to see them fold or anything like it. But, still, Caveat Emptor. There's a reason why HOAT is here. And that reason is Heartland does not have a good rep among drivers. And he knows it.

    Let me help you. Ready?

    1. Enough of HHG miles. Pay practical. You know you're skimming miles off a driver's pay by paying HHG miles. That's a lot of uncompensated driving there.

    2. If you're going to disallow toll roads, don't pay the miles for the toll roads. You know in NY and PA that avoiding those roads are adding miles to the trip that you're not paying. That's nothing short of wage theft.

    3. It's great that you're adopting the APU idea. That's a great idea because a well rested driver is a safe driver.

    4. Stop pay needs a boost. Extra stops on a trip can be be detrimental to a driver's paycheck, especially if that one day trip is stretched to 2-3 days.

    5. There are many drivers in your "Green Miles Region" that aren't getting miles. I know this from applying there myself, talking to recruiters and drivers for Heartland. .60/ mile doesn't mean anything if you can't run.

Heartland demands exceptional service to their customers from their people. Some people don't like that, and don't want to be a part of what that kind of operating excellence entails. It is what is required to get the compensatory rates from the top shippers in the country, in order to be in a position to give a driver pay increase such as this, deserving as it is, in order to be in a position to have all new trucks and trailers and keep them well maintained.

All true, Joseph's 5-point list above. (Well, when I can see it. Have to hit 'View Post'.) I like the theme, 'wage theft'. Hey, when you go around a toll, those are usually hard, difficult miles, too, local traffic and all.

    Glad I haven't had to...

I am that way. I expect to give nothing less than 100% to the company and the customers. After all, it is the entire reason I get a paycheck. So tell me, why don't I work for you any longer if we both have the same high standards and expectations?
