Steel, that is fine and all for the drivers that want to drive 55. I am just not comfortable driving at that speed. At 62-63 mph, I am no faster or slower than most trucks on the road. I am fine with that. If I do come up to a driver doing 55; I hang back and wait til I can go around without holding up the hammer lane.

When it comes to driving speed, its whatever floats your boat and 55 does not float my boat.

Even at 62-63mph with 43.5k ony back; 7.2mpg is not that bad of a mpg average.

I completely understand the logic in going 55 and I completely understand the repercussions of driving 62-63mph. I am good with that and I still make money. I don't care about being passed. Its not a pride thing and I could drive 55 if I had no other choice.

This is one subject I agree with you on (driving 55 for mpg) but not comfortable doing.

Hey Steel Tiger, not change the subject, but I see you are from FL. I'm originally from Tampa but currently live in Olympia, WA. I was considering JCT and was wondering how often you get to FL or WA. I see quite a few of you guys in Hermiston, OR.

Has anyone posted settlement stubs on here? I'd like to see some actual factual hard numbers. Cause I've ran the numbers off the website and I don't see how you guys turn a profit pulling heavy reefer loads for .90 cpm.

One thing I have been told by multiple KW drivers for us is that the faster the 660s are pushed the better the mileage. How that happens I'm not really sure but even the shop has agreed woth them on the speed vs mpg.

Drop a gear and drive slower you'll get better fuel mileage.
It's basic physics. You can't disputed physics.
The faster you go, the more you have to move, the harder the engine works, the more fuel is burned.

Depends on what transmission you have to run with. My old 2001 387 that was powered by a C-15 Cat, 18 speed, and 3.32 rears I could run around all day at 70 - 75 since in 18th it was barely turning 1200 for the 3 years I had it I avg 8.8 mpg. Now with JCT trucks some knuckle head ordered them with 10 speeds and 3.42 gears. Not quite the best set up to try dropping a gear and running that way. You would top out at about 51 mph. Our new Freightshaker wanna be trucks have a better gearing of 3.02/3.07 can't remember exactly.

Have never driven a KW I drive an 07 Columbia now but have talked to different people and they say it is the rpm range on some trucks. Some trucks get better fuel mileage in a certain rpm range. So you might be going a little faster in speed wise but be within certain rpm's. Just saying so carry on.

All our 2012 and 1st batch of 2014 Cascadias have 3.42 rears. The 2nd batch of 2014 and all 2015 have 3.07. The automatics have 2.91.

Yes. There are detailed breakdowns of fixed costs, variable costs and millage. I know I have posted some and I believe others have too. They are in earlier posts on this thread and if not their on the original "running with JCT." You will just have to look for them.

Our base pay is $0.90 per mile but you also have to add the current fuel surcharge to all dispatched miles. With that you get a more realistic picture of what you can make.
