The model we use uses SD cards, and they're always full. So I don't know what good they'd do in an accident.
They go off every time we exceed 65 or hit a pot hole. Judging by how often mine went off on a routine run to NYC, I can't imagine this thing lasting more than a week.

And if I did have an accident? It'd probably over-write it before I could get it back to the safety department.

Go to a Southern States store and get a Cow magnet. Run it all over the card. Erases the magnetic stripe.

They do stay full. They usually record in 2-minute segments until the card is full, then overwrite the oldest segment. If an 'event' is triggered, that segment is marked to not be overwritten, so it should be available when you get back to the yard.

Pull SD card out of camera. Throw SD card out driver's window when you are running down the interstate at 75 MPH. Tell boss, "Gee, I don't know what happened."

I guess I should clarify a few things.

1.) they actually locked (yes locked) the thing to the truck and there's another lock over the SD port.
(Could I break the locks open? Yeah but it'd be pretty obvious tampering)

2.) our safety guy's a joke. He procrastinates on everything, and is pretty lazy as well.
If he's keeping track of accidents as well as he's keeping up maintenance appointments then you'd have to have done something royally stupid to get him to get off his ###.

So I'm not really worried about the cameras as much as I'm laughing about how often they get filled up.
Especially in a pothole wonderland like NYC.

OK, I understand that. Guess I just don't appreciate the big brotherism it brings to the truck. Anyway you can "accidentally" place something over the camera lens?

Does this camera just record out the windshield? If it does, that would probably be OK, and could actually save your rear at times. But if there is a lens pointing back to the driver. . .:biggrin_25513:

    It's a Rosco Dual Vision XC3.

    Two lenses.

Covering the the lens will get you written up.

No confirmation of sound recording, just rumors.

LMAO! The title for this page shows as "First prolonged experience..." Why is it that Viagra came immediately to mind? Yup - I need to get my mind out of the gutter...
