    HelloHello

Wife and I start training with Prime in a few weeks and will be driving team. Was wondering how other teams run schedule wise. I was thinking we each drive 10 hour per day and that leaves us 4 hours in a day. Was thinking not driving 6:00am - 8:00am and 5:00pm - 7:00pm to try and avoid rush hour. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I hate to rain on your parade but you can't always decide when to not drive. Many times the loads dictate your hours.I think you'll have to decide on a daily basis.

Thanks obviously I know the loads will dictate that, but how do you go about splitting the driving. What works best for some of you?

Hubby and I try to change shifts at off times. Usually between 3-5AM. Truck stops aren't busy, roads aren't crazy and we can fuel, get in a full DOT, walk the mutt and cook a meal. Of course, it all depends on the load and our HOS.

Truck stops are jammed between midnight and 1 AM local and gain about 5AM. We just try to stay out of everyone's way.

When I ran teams years ago... The young lady in the truck drove some days and I drove days and nights.

You'll find what works for you, I wouldn't stress over that right now. Usually the husband does nights, so if that's how you guys are gonna roll, just roll with you trying to do most of the night hours and adjust when possible.

if your otr...the wife and I run 500 ea. And break at the 250th mile point. If yall run regional...we set it so that 0800 to 2000 was my shift and 2000 to 0800 was hers...anything that needed to be done between that block of time was that persons responsibility but I can tell you my days went long past 8 just to get us on the road and hers did too...just remember do what works for your truck!
