    Hey Buddy I'm a fellow Crete (well Shaffer but same thing) driver leaving joining Schneider choice lease also :smt039
    I start Dec 15th and I'm getting a KW T-680

    Anyway a far as money goes, I'm been digging into this for months.. spoke to a bunch of drivers, seen their pay and also seen the load board myself.
    Long story short it ALL depends on you. If you want to take long runs into dead areas and be home every week you'll go broke.
    If you want to follow the money and all the $2+ a mile loads, plan double loads a day etc you'll do VERY well and 60K will seem like nothing.
    There are a lot of good loads on the board, as long as you follow the money you'll do very well.
    Now if you want to go to certain areas or be home every week, not so much.
    Know the good and bad areas, follow the money and you'll do wayyyy better than $60k!
    Plan plan plan, study and do the math... that's my best advice even to myself.

    Yessir...seen ya on the Crete board...didn't know you were making the jump as well. As for me, no...I'm not looking to get home each week. Now, through the house once in a while for a 34? Absolutely. Taking more than 3 or 4 days off at a time if the money has been good? Absolutely. Got family on the west coast, and I'm shooting for 2 or 3 visits out there per year for a few days each, so nothing big. I'm a former company hand for SNI, so I'm familiar with their freight lanes, operations, etc...so I feel like I've got at least a good start. I guess I'm just looking for that last bit of encouragement, especially since Crete announced their pay increase today. Not easy to walk away from what would be 49cpm as of Feb, but I'm gonna do it. See ya out there!

    I will say if you just follow the money you will not make it long. There's great money going to nowhere. You have to plan not only your trip out but back too. Example I could take a load to El paso paying 3k for 1700 miles which isn't bad but there's rarely any freight in El Paso. So you loose money by going. If you live in the right areas home time is no problem but some areas are tough. Best advice I can give is learn to Trip plan and time management.

    If you need 60k then stay with Crete if you make that now.

    You can make good money with SNI but there's no guarantee and it's not easy.

    50 k would be a good average and 60 not unlikely but IF you need 60 then stay where you are there's gonna be great weeks and then lousy weeks. I'm just being honest hope it helps.

    That's what it's about..both good and bad.
    Nothing is perfect here at Choice.
    You just have more freedom to run the way you want.
    How much and where you run is up to you.

    It really comes down to discipline..spending,time management,load planning,time off.
    A fine balance to be profitable.

    nothing comes out of Florida and Colorado for example.
    Some loads come out of Colorado that pay... OKAY but they almost always head west or to Phoenix.

    Learn the good and bad areas, I'd say that's first before even booking your first load.
    That's why I've been :hiding: on all these Schneider threads for months now... learning a much as I can.

    think of it this way, all these companies raising pay is part in because freight rates are going up also.
    Remember you'll have the freedom to do whatever whenever you want, we don't have that at Crete.
    I'm a Shaffer driver, I live on energy and sleeping pills to make all the crazy reefer appointment times... yeah I'm not going to miss that and THAT is worth a lot.

    Are you guys talking NET 50-60k??!!! That would be awesome! I GROSS that now. I'm lucky to net 30k after all my deductions.

    I think thats doable based on my average cost if gross 195k i should pocket 90 or more

    Thats saying i average 3800 a week my costs are usually less than 2000

    So 3800*52 197600
    costs 2000*52 104000
    net 93600
    after uncle sams cut lets say 66000 in pocket.

    Ofcourse this is assuming perfect weeks but it is possible.
