I am already going to a school on my own through an unemployment grant. I want to apply to Watkins & Shepard as they seem to be a great company. What is the training program for those who already have their CDL? From what I understand it's 10 days and then you get your own truck? No trainers after the 10 days either? Do these guys run the east coast seeing that's where I live? Thanks guys, the training thread was great!

Looks like BIG a red flag to me... Why would a company want you to be able to do this? When they issue your truck do they also give you a jar of vaseline?
Haha!! don't get all mad.. I'm only joking I'm sure it's a good company. Dunno if anyone else caught that but I just couldn't let it go by without comment... -
I see that Watkins/Shepard advertises that first year drivers income will average $43,300 a year.
I know that this will vary in the slow economic times we are experiencing, but for those of you that have driven for a year or less with W/S does the income seem to be close. -

When driving for Watkins/Shepard do they let you use a laptop with a laptop holder attached to the passenger seat of your truck. I would like to be able to use one for a Co-Pilot Truckers GPS system for laptops.

As an added bonus. You could make more, due to your area. Heavy haul pays a nice bonus. -
I would like to know the approximate cost for food and licensing fees for the 30 day students that attend the W/S training.
