Then figure the various insurances around about $358 a week and trailer about $185 a week. Leasing a truck through them, they will take $0.12 off the top for maintenance too which is $300 on 2500 miles. Figure 6 miles per gallon and the fuel discount this week around $2.75 leaves right around $1200 bucks for the owner. -
Brother Scottie, i have 36 months before i retire from the current company i work. I'll walk away with a modest monthly pension, without going into details, enough to cover my house payment and bills. Trucking has been a life long dream. After 29 yrs of grinding in a warehouse and my kids being grown, it's my time NOW.. After my 1 yr with the starter truck comp's[ you know the one's] my objective is o/o with Roadrunner. I will buy my truck from a outside truck dealer with a large down payment on a used truck, payment at about 1000- 1200 monthly. 15000 in a maintenance account for starters. Finally, brother man i wont need 5000 a week to earn a good living, i'll be 51 yrs young and it's about the freedom to call the shot's to go and come when i choose too . So, 1200-1400 is on point & what's your thoughts on this plain of mine........ thanx for the responds

$1200 a month divided by 4.33= $277 a week
Bringing your own truck-- no deduction for $0.12 from the carrier.
Trailer rent $185 or so
Tractor over 3 years old-- $3.11 per $1000 value with $2500 deductible or -- $3.54 per thousand per month with $1000 deductible.
So they will deduct only trailer rent and insurances from your settlement, spitballing here about $350 a week for you. That is averages I use, typically they pull all the insurance out the first week of the month plus trailer rent every week. So settlement is smaller first week then larger the final weeks of the month.
Looking at your numbers tells me you will do very well over at Roadrunner.
They have posted the new contract for us in .pdf form today or yesterday which has to be signed by 123114 otherwise our lease is severed. There will be T2T rate increases beginning 030115. Was just talking with another owner parked next to me, he said the new contract dictates we will only be able to use RR agents for booking loads outside the T2T network in other words he said RR took away our list of gold book brokers including Landstar, Schneider, CH Robinson, US Express etc etc.
I just read through the entire contract and see nothing in there like that. They just added some language (or maybe I didn't see it on the last contract) that the first 'backhaul' (brokered load outside T2T) will be 92% rate (if the contractor opts for cargo insurance) then the subsequent backhaul rate is 88% then 80% respectively and on down the line to 70%. This appears to be what the guy was talking about, a tool to for contractors to stay within the T2T lanes inasmuch as possible.
I mentioned clean CSA inspections pay out $1000 per occurence. New contract spells out how that is going to work. We get $200 per clean inspection up to a max payout of 5 clean inspections per quarter. If you get 5 clean inspections per quarter, you will get a payout of an additional $3000 year end.Ghostzapper951 and Boy Howdey Thank this. -

Talking about benefit though we do get fuel discounts at PFJ, TA/Petro and Loves. I stopped in Ripon CA Flying J, pump price $3.69 my discount was $2.48-- over $1.21 savings per gallon. I previously had never seen a discount more than $0.70 off pump price, this breaks that record.The Challenger and Boy Howdey Thank this. -

Sounds like RR is much improved since I was leased there in 2009. I couldn't make anything happen T2T. Nearly every broker load was declined due to credit - even Landstar, CH - all of them! I averaged 1.11 per mile. Since I'm from FL I tried every possible way to make any of the Orlando/Miami runs work but couldn't. Wound up deadheading 500 to 700 miles out every time. Overall it was miserable.
