    HAHAHA. Apparently I was the only one on TTR that didn't know who you were quoting and I was too ashamed to ask (didn't feel like getting beat up again after that speeding ticket thread LOL). So I googled the quote and that's what I got. Funny as hell LOL.

    From my preliminary searches, few 1994-1995 trucks on the market were ready for (or close to) working except for the unaerodynamic “classic” trucks. So I was elated when CARB released statements at their April 2014 board meeting indicating that people who could demonstrate an economic hardship could get an exemption until 2017. Furthermore, one could prove an economic hardship by producing a loan denial letter for the purchase of a new truck.

    Score! I'm a brand new business – no lender in their right mind is going to loan me enough for a new truck! So I go to the local Freightliner dealership and price a new Cascadia dd13 mid-roof, 10 speed direct, tag axle, small sleeper... $150,000 plus sales tax (8%) and FET (12%) – grand total: $180,000. So I go to my bank and apply for a $180,000 loan. To my dismay, they didn't immediately dismiss my request! I actually didn't hear back for 2 weeks, but when I did they very apologetically said that while my credit and banking history was good and they fought for me, my business was just too new for corporate to approve. Whew!

    1 Question- I would really appreciate your help here- How did you get the CARB exemption? Whenever I try to access it through their website, it disqualifies me because I didn't own the truck prior to a certain date in 2012.

    Go here;
    http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/truckstop/truckstop.htm

    Click on the "What if I am unable to comply" link & start answering the questions. If you didn't own the truck before 1-1-2012 AND have it previously reported under the small fleet phase in program, you don't qualify.

    If you can show me a way to do this a steak dinner anywhere in Sacto is on me (drinks included)

    Not to high jack this thread but since a couple of guys here are from Cali I want to ask a question. Let's say my broker offered me a huge rate to run out there with my hopper. And could reload me back. Kind of a one time thing I want to drive a 359 just one time past kingmon. Kinda of a silly little personal thing I want to do. Anyway is there anyway of this happening without serious repercussions

    Thank you, sorry I missed that the first time. I'm really in a quandary. My 2009 Cascadia is totaled and thanks to being ripped by my lender and the insurance co. I just don't think I can afford another compliant truck right now.

    If my significant other wasn't locked in to her job here I'd be moving to another state. I see so many non-compliant trucks, I think the state would come to a halt if they all stopped running.

    FWIW I see zero enforcement and tons of non-compliant trucks on the road.

    To my knowledge, there are two legal ways:

    1) A 3-day pass (can only get 1 a year)

    2) Register with CARB as a low-use vehicle & drive less than 1,000 miles in California or less than 5,000 total miles (in all states)

    Somebody correct me if this is wrong but the twisted red tape of CARB actually does not ban trucks 1992 or older until 2020 or something like that? So you could drive out there and be ok. My contention has always been that someone willing to lawyer up that was not based in California but ticketed for running non-compliant equipment has the interstate commerce clause of the constitution firmly on their side. Laws that go against the constitution are null and void.
