Yeah, tiny little 50,000 square mile sliver... Bartenders/Waitresses in Killdeer at $25/hr +tips, truck stop employees $17/hr in Watford, McDonalds employees in Sydney, MT at $16/hr. It's not a tiny geographic area unless you're from Jupiter. It helps to know what you're talking about before vomiting it into a forum and ultimately the point here is that coming to an oilfield worker forum and saying you hope the oilfield collapses. Everyone here grasps the notion that lower fuel prices benefit the country at large, most of us would appreciate lower fuel prices if they didn't come at the expense of our livelihoods.
Crude oil is $86 today.... beginning of the end?

"hope the oilfield collapses". OK, now that we've established some of these concepts are too complex for you, I think you have a point there about some businesses that support the oilfield. Earlier, Walmart was mentioned, and I don't believe the Walmarts in Dickinson and Minot pay the $17 advertised in Williston. I don't think too many places match Williston for much of anything. The Williston Loves was starting at $16/hr and there are still the exorbitant rents. No idea what a waitress makes in Killdeer but I'd wager you're full of it saying $25/hr + tips. No, you ARE full of it.
Evenso, the people benefiting from low gas prices run from Maine to California, Florida to Washington. By comparison, the higher wages of some support industries in the oilfield is small.Last edited by a moderator: Dec 27, 2014

Back to the actual topic of the thread, pulled from a pad today that was standing up a rig to punch 4 new wells so it's definitely not dead yet. Pretty sure 3 Forks drilling is going to tank and Bakken drilling is going to probably hold steady since they are more productive wells being not as deep as 3 Forks. Our Exxon wells are still going strong, our Conoco Bakken wells are being choked a bit and the 3 Forks wells are running full bore. I counted 10 rigs in the narrow alley I worked today. -

Gas around here dipped to $1.99 today. I am truly loving this!

We all get it, oilfield workers and some support businesses, landowners...all these people benefit from high oil and gas prices. Some of us don't equate that to what is good for humanity.OldHasBeen Thanks this. -
On the radio in Odessa they stated that energy accounts for 11% of the GDP of Texas. If you listen to CNBC on Sirrius they will tell you there is an excess of 2 million bbls a day of oil on the global market and then the Saudis increased production. All of this has nothing to do with the thread.
I was on the plane flying out of Midland and the cementer behind me said they all ready fired half of the office staff at his company and a fracker had one job lined up till in mid January. It might be slowing.
Why don't you start your own thread "Oil field Workers Vs Humanity" ? -
