Nope never been to that truck stop. I'll check that one out next time though. Only 10 miles from where I usually drop in Chesapeake.

Sweet lucked out and got a load that I'll pick up tomorrow. And I took the gamble between it being the nice open big-name distribution center and the crappy super tight lot that I'm not sure if I could actually park a trailer in a single-slot spot with my KW. Got lucky and it's from the big DC LOL. These 2 shippers are like a mile from eachother. One is a huge PITA, the other is always pretty easy. But you never know which it is on the load board since they are so close and appear identical on the board. I _THINK_ you can differentiate between them from the remarks but there are no loads from the other shipper to comare right now.

Anway, tomorrow I'll be in SC. Then probably deadhead back up to the Charlotte OC unless I can find a load out from nearby. Then probably rinse and repeat and end up right back here the next day.

Went to that mill in Cov once back when I was a company driver. Must be a gigantic mill, probably one of those where the whole town is built around it, kinda difficult to navigate the first time there. You check in at one spot then gotta cross over to the other side of the interstate to a free-for-all drop lot to find your loaded trailer. Which is guaranteed to be too high or too low and loaded with 44k of paper rolls. And they're the tall ones, gotta be on your a-game with those. Still not as bad as coming out of GP in Big Island though. That is one crazy ride, in the rain, on that 2-lane mountain road. Been a long time since I've hauled those. Hauled a lot of them as a company driver though. Only paper mill I've been too that I actually liked was the one in Alabama, though I can't remember what the name of the place was or the town it was in. You go down a super steep downgrade to the gate, and across the valley you can see the suspended crane used to shift all the logs around. Really cool to see it in action. Hope you got a 13 speed for the ride out though, that grade just keeps going... and going... and going.

Thanks! Wish we had more of the Emerson trailers still in the fleet. This is the first one I've pulled in a LONG time. They sold a lot of them off, most were completely trashed. This one was in good shape and with air ride they pull like a dream. Back to the BANG BANG BANG spring suspension pumpkins tomorrow.

Coming out of Big Island sucks too. But if I'm paying for the fuel that'll be my preference you have that one big mountain on 64 to get to 81 and thats it. 64 from covington is a pass. I never explored Covington my loads were always in the lot next to the office behind the sizzler or burger king something like that.

I used to haul chips and logs into Covington and Big Islandseveral years ago and you are basically right about the town being built around it. It is like a town of its own when you go thru the gates. I know that the trailers are loaded and parked in a different spot.
Don't know to much about Big Island as I did not go in there as much as Covington. Just seen a lot of trucks waiting on loads. Unloaded a load of sawdust and was trying to beat a JB Hunt l/o out the gate and he got out ahead of me and when we got on 122 around the school he goes around a curve to fast and he turned over and the rolls went thru a horse pasture. But that was back in early 2001. Been a long time since I have been to either.
