Well back at home. Ended up feeling pretty nasty this morning so I decided to have the load I booked for tomorrow pulled off of me, and I came home. Not sure what I've got, hopefully just a bug that will be out of the way in the next day or so. Didn't want to be sitting in the truck somewhere sick, that is the worst.
I swung by Gregory Poole CAT on the way home and they didn't have the parts I need to fix the leaking fuel primer plunger in stock, so I ordered them and will pick them up Monday morning and install them. So home for the weekend it is.
Overall happy with how the truck has been doing. No real idea on fuel mileage yet because I haven't had a chance to fill all 340 gallons of fuel tank on it, lol. I'm not expecting too great of mileage on the stock engine. Will probably need some ECM work and a FASS system to get it where I want it. Just been fueling as needed for the loads so far.
Only issue I'm keeping a close eye on is a small oil leak from the #6 cylinder at the head. No visible oil/coolant consumption, oil is clean, coolant is clean... just some oil residue wicking it's way around the back of the block. The rear cover that is common for leaking on these CATs appears dry, so I don't think it's coming out of that. When I shut down the truck, if I shine a light on the area where the head meets the block drivers side I can see some very very small... fizzes... Nothing bubbling or dripping out, but definitely something weeping it's way through. At 1.3m miles I guess it's to be expected. The head gasket was replaced back around 700k miles, though I'm not sure if the head was replaced or machined. I'll just keep an eye on it for the time being, that's all I can do for now. It looks like there is actually a riser sandwiched in between the block and the head, with a gasket and the head gasket on each respective side. At first glance it appears to be from the lower gasket between the block and the riser. There are no drops on the ground after stopping, no drops while idling, just a drop here and there formed on the studs sticking out of the bottom of the oil pan. Let's hope it stays that way.
Big shout out to mickeyrat for hooking me up with his spare satellite radio antenna!! Looks like it arrived here earlier today. No more dropping out on the WV turnpike or in the tall trees on 58 headed out of Chesapeake. If any of you stop through Chez Obetz make sure you get a chance to meet the concierge...
