If you are otr I don't know when your going to have time to play games. By the time I get done driving, paperwork, planning the next day, eating, showering and getting enough sleep to drive safely the next day you have no time. I don't even have a tv in my truck. I have my phone and an iPad
I could see if you have a lot of experience but new guys like myself really need to concentrate on what's going on around themselves. Worry about safety not gaming. Just sayn
Online gaming on the road.

Who says you're not getting enough sleep while also playing games. That's not even the question, he was asking about what to use other than truck stops to connect for online gamingDieselboss, Stuka and cowboy_tech Thank this. -
In my opinion if you want to game try the trucking game. You can play 11 hrs a day and have a million guys to talk to on your cb
X-Country Thanks this. -
Instead of making assumptions about how some of us spend our free time, why not just ignore the thread and move on? -
I would like to game online while Im on my reset or during delays. Not sure how to go about it though. Does the t mobile have good connections with out lag? I play Madden and battlefield 4 usually. Im out 2-3 weeks at a time and depending how freight runs I have some days off.

Im in agreement no time for games. Just giving my experiences not judging. I was one of the top gamers on Madden for a long time. Got into trucking and sold my system since I had no time to play. Good luck trying to find the time, but on my 10 hour i only have time for eating and sleeping.

Bottom line is: SOMETIMES there is a little downtime, sometimes there isn't. But when there IS, maybe you have an hour, maybe 2. And gaming is a great way to de-stress. One guy spends an hour at the poker machines, the next kills aliens in space for a bit. It isn't a mortal sin for someone to pose a question with the word "downtime" in it.
Your original question?
If you are playing solo then knock yourself out - frag away with glee. If you are playing multi-online, then it comes down to connection speed, ping, and bandwidth of that connection. Every game has individual streaming requirements and data usage. Lots of sites online to research your favorites.
If playing online, many truck-stops do not spend enough money on their WiFi system to supply the demand, particularly when the lot fills. But there are places and situations where public WiFi gives a playable connection. Use that if it is an option that night. A good fallback is the hotspot devices or cell phone hotspots. In most areas you can get 3G speeds and 4G is common in urban areas. If you have neither option that night - solo.
Gaming data usage is much smaller than watching a movie, for instance. So for example, maybe on a 5 Gig data plan a guy could watch 10 to 15 hours of streaming movies or TV all month. But a gamer could play 250 hours online with that same data plan. Now since not even the most leisurely of drivers is going to have 250 hours of downtime, he actually still has plan left over for the other stuff.DrtyDiesel, scatruck and cowboy_tech Thank this. -

I was thinking to go with T-Mobile since they have unlimited internet, but their coverage sucks. Does anyone have a "pringle's can" with you while you are out?
