Matt Dillon, ...... James Arness --- and the 1800's edition of Barney Fife, Chester, .... Dennis Weaver.
They don't make ' em like that anymore. Black-N-White, ....... back in the day. Gunsmoke still airs on some of the digital channels.
The story y' all are about to read is true.
No names were changed to protect the innocent.
I lay no claim to the title, "Super trucker".
But I've heard some of their stories.
U.S. Marshals, Secret Service, F.B.I. C.I.A.,
and Black Helicopters.
Y' all don't see ' em, .... but they're there.
There was a time when I sorta believed 'em.
I'd never actually seen one.
Never thought I actually would.
'Till that day when I actually did.
Stories I'd heard told of U.S. Marshals rightin' wrongs perpetrated upon Big truck truck drivers.
Marshals always seemed like the Lone Ranger. A problem arises, Marshal is summoned. Arrives, collars the bad-doer,
restores harmony, --- Zippity-Do-Dah-Day..............
Get real, ...... right?
It is!
Real.
I saw it.
I mean I saw one.
I mean her.
I saw her.
A very cute strawberry blond with a long pony-tail, braided tight -- like a rope, and reached from the back of her head
right down to near her waist. Athletic lookin', wearin' dark colored cover-alls, and a ball-cap with an emblem to match,
approaches the driver's side of the Big truck I just rolled in with.
Hi! ... she said.
Gave me a little wave.
Nice smile.
I waved and nodded back, tipped my hat.
Started to smile at 'er, ..... when she said,
"I'm going to need your Bills-0-Lading, your log book, and your CDL-A Driver's License.
I'm only interested in the log book pages while you were under this load you're delivering."
Say What?
(I mighta been smilin' 'bout then)
Anything else? .... I asked. Tryin' to buy some time to figure out what's goin' on here.
The load is worth several million bucks.
Am I bein' Hi-Jacked?!, ..... I asked myself, -- in my head.
"No", she continued. "That's all I'll need, and I'll have to photo-copy each of those things.
But, everyone's at lunch now. Big event, there'll be some speeches, introductions,
a couple of politicians, --- it's eleven now (am), you're early, --- I'd say you'd have
an easy hour and a half before I'll be back for your paperwork."
Ok, ......... I say, ........ just so I'm up to speed here, ...... is there a reason why I should
hand over my paperwork to you?
(I sure couldn't imagine one)
"There certainly is a reason, driver, ...... if you refuse, I'll have to arrest you.
And I don't want to have to do that".
As she spoke she pulled the left side of her coveralls open to reveal a holstered
auto-loader ridin' on her left hip. Just above that was a badge. Said on that badge,
U.S. Marshal, same thing on the patch on her matchin' hat.
WoW!
Far Out!
Never saw that comin'.
Go figure.
But it don't end there.
She tells me, "I'll have lunch sent out to you. See ya later".
She waved.
I sighed.
Finishin' up drawin' lines in my log book.
Makin' sure I don't show myself across state lines into Iowa before midnight.
Explicit instructions repeated many times, --- too many to forget that detail.
As I'm returnin' my paperwork to my briefcase I hear a rattlin' sound. Look
in my rear view mirror and I think I'm dreamin'. The rattle was created by a
stainless steel servin' cart bein' pushed by a chef in a tall white hat, settin'
a course toward me in the Big truck.
Sliced turkey breast, chicken, roast beef, (center or end cut, sir?), potato
salad, cole slaw, (take enough for later, sir, take all you want, here, take
these containers and fill 'em up.) Is that mashed potato?
Oh MaN!
Thank yew!!
Coffee and a soda.
BurrrP!
OH!
'Scuse me.
'Bout twelve-forty-five, Miss U.S. Marshall returned and together we walked
'bout a hundred yards to a temporary office trailer where she photo-copied
my paperwork --- for the records.
Very important.
You see, ...... this is a first for Iowa.
This dog race park will be the first to receive previously illegal items that
were legalized by a new law that went into effect at one minute past midnight.
Iowa had their first load of Gaming Devices, also, and better known as
Slot Machines. (Electronic).
It all started to make sense 'bout then.
NutZ!
I was kinda hopin' she wanted my information 'cause she thought I was
hawt. Just in case, I asked her outright to marry me, with my promise to
move her to the left coast, --- three bedroom house with a porch out back
and a view of the mountain range with the Grapevine at one end and the
Cajon Pass at thuther end.
She said she was flattered, and , unfortunately, had to decline.
I knew she would, .... or I wouldn'ta asked 'er.
It'd be like bein' hooked-up with Wonder Woman. Or Zena.
I fear I'd be one tuckered Big truck truck trucker.
OverTrucked?
But, ......... I digress.
That's my personal experience with a U.S. Marshall, and, in conclusion,
in my opinion, all that unbelievable good stuff y' all hear 'bout what-all
they do, has a definite probability of bein' true.
I'm baaaaaack!!!!!!!!

My wife checks on our bank balances by phone, and we get our copies of direct deposit only at security, as they don't mail them to those still employed. It's almost as good and bad as working a static location to be captive doing delivery for the parent company.
I'd check into getting a way to do the query by phone or internet if I were you, Captain.Dominick253 and Captain Zoom Thank this. -
No way to query on line (asked, was looked at like I'd asked for something sexual in nature). Was told to call Payroll, tried all day yesterday and Thursday no dice. Will try again Monday but the deposit may hit then and I'll be able to reverse engineer my settlement.
Didn't expect to become a real life Trucker Detective.
Maybe I should have asked for something sexual; it might have been more rewarding for at least one of us. (Not really; the ops manager looks like her name should be Oof. Or Thud.)The Challenger and 25(2)+2 Thank this. -
Hundred miler for tomorrow, backed up by a 400 miler on Tues. Asked about picking up and delivering Tues load tomorrow, got an answer to an entirely different question that I didn't ask.
Filled out Risinger app today, just in case. I have a feeling I may be moving soon.Dominick253, double yellow, The Challenger and 5 others Thank this. -
Lease Purchase with Risinger.?

Trucking companies complain about how there are not many good drivers. they treat drivers like a # instead of a person, don't care about the problems on the road or shippers and receivers. I know some will disagree. the drivers who disagree please list your company and how long you have driven for them.

I haven' seen anything to convince me that this company is capable of that sort of venality. It would be myopic and churlish to troll this forum searching for an excuse to target someone for retaliation; frankly, I think their ops monkeys have better things to do. Anyway, I'm only doing exactly what I said I would, and that's report my experiences -- both good and bad. This post has been largely positive until recently. I'm somewhat of an optimist, but I'm as human as the next man and when the miles fall so do my income and my outlook. I don't recall blaming anyone at Gordon for the miles (please correct me if I'm wrong). There are some aspects of the corporate culture here that are beginning to make me think I may not be a good fit. That said, I SERIOUSLY doubt that Gordon is reading my posts and sticking me with retaliatory load assignments. I may not like everything about how they do business, but thus far they have been (mostly) professional.
