I wouldn't worry about if they had ltl or not. It's not like you have to load it.
Conway estes ups type of companies do not have ltl jobs. You pick up. Swap. Go back. Unless your on the conway long haul. Then is pick and drop normal van freight like everyone else.

I believe what you want is dry van, home time. pay, benefits.

    Try this.

Ltl is picking up for multiple companies taking a period of 2 days to a week to have a full truck. Then start going along dropping and picking. I don't know of any company that actually hires drivers to do ltl.

There is one reputable company. rsc trucking However you don't run ltl as an individual truck would. They get all the ltl in the area. Load it up on a trailer with local guy or from their warehouse.
You come in. Drop n hook and go.

To you it would be considered 1 pick. Multiple drop.

"Conway Estes ups type of companies do not have ltl jobs."
Ummm... Yes, they do. That's what they are. They're just local as opposed to OTR.

dhout, you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

LTL is Less than Truckload. It does include what you described, but it also--and primarily--includes FedEx Freight, Old Dominion, Saia, Estes and any other company that hauls other-than-truckload freight. These are the very definition of LTL jobs.

I have to assume that you're talking about LTL "Line Haul" Drivers. Part of my job is dealing with Line Haul Drivers. They'll pull in with a pair of loaded "pups" (28' trailers), drop them off, hook up a set of empty pups, and go right back to where they came from. While these positions do exist, those are not what are typically being referred to in this section.

That's not how it works. At least not with the companies that people are talking about here. When most people say "LTL positions"...they're talking about Pickup & Delivery (P&D) Drivers. For pick-ups...P&D drivers go out on their routes running any number of deliveries in a day. It could be one stop (i.e. I loaded a complete "pup" today with 13 large items that were going to one customer) or it could be 10+ stops. The P&D driver will have pre-established pick-ups...and they will also get pinged via e-message (if the carrier has an electronic system) to pick-up an item from a customer. Pick-ups from all route drivers are combined at the end of the shift and sent wherever they need to go.

Reddaway and YRC takes 0 exp. Just have doubles and triples endorsement and Hazmat. They just had a hiring event SO that means they need drivers.

@ 21 y/o it's a very long shot. Like you mention it's terminal by terminal basis. My younger brother was hired on not long ago under 25 y/o @ my shop. He's the youngest dude by about 8 years. Yep, We hire without experience, it's not a training company and no doubt have to be mature and will be thrown to the wolves day 1. Assuming if anyone completes the training in fort smith, Has a chance to be molded the ABF way and may ease into the union. Not a bad way to start a career.

I'd forget about that Oilfield mumbo jumbo mess. Temporary Salary and no future, On the opposite end of your state and seen the start and high pay and mumbo jumbo. With oil and gas boom when i first started driving was unreal pay, Now it's drivers escaping to find other employment. Oil/gas field crap is a mess and temporary in PA.

Definitely check out other suggestions in thread.

Yeah I'm still gonna look around but im gonna ride this train to the last stop. Can't beat the money there paying for my zero experience. And like you guys said its hard only being 21, so hopefully they'll be around till I'm 23 so then I can go elsewhere w/o much hassle. If things do fall apart quickly I have Maines paper & food and willow run in my backyard. Both have own ins so they hire at 21.

And it helps my uncles is working at the same place as me. Really nice to have a family member show you the ropes but yea i hear you about the oilfield being questionable at best
