what exactly is so bad about running in the northeast?

I liked it when the southern boys from a former company I worked at, refused to come up here. I got home a lot, and got back down south a lot, got back up here a lot, got back down there a lot. Meaning I got the miles, and the southern boys, or Mary's or sissies, cried they were not getting the miles.

So what's so bad about the northeast?

Nothing, if you live up here, and want to make the miles running back and forth!

 

Nobody mentioned parking.
Sure, it can be difficult to find parking in the evening everywhere. In most of the Northeast people HATE truckstops. So they are only in limited areas and parking is at a premium. So many locations will charge 10 dollars or more to park, and almost everything is full to capacity by 1630 every day. Many shipper and receiver lots are small, since land is so expencive, so they don't have room for overnight parking, or just plain do not allow it.

 

for some carriers the north east also includes NYC. now some people like NYC and some people dont. a place that has a 13'6 bridge but post 12'6 is not a place that most would fancy. some carriers don't have a policy alowing the driver to turn down NYC so they swear off the whole area. It can also be hard to find a place to park in a lot of the north east. I try to stay out of most of it and no way to NYC i went there once and never again, i dont give a dam what the freight is or how much its paying.

but then again as stated above there is good miles to be had in the north east, you still have to come home at some point! last time i was out there i was able to get wicked miles with easy customers toping my month off for 14 thousand miles in the end. so its hard to turn down but depending on where its going, most guys do away with it just to be safe and i dont blame them one bit.

 

Rude receivers

 

You live in upstate NY,it's not bad driving around those parts.But you get right in the heartland of the northeast like NYC, Baltmore ,Philly,Boston you have thousands of cars to deal with, the tight turns, narrow roads when heading to the customer.You're in for a real treat.
