So its 37.5 CPM now for new cadets? That may be tempting. After thinking about it a couple weeks ago, I decided the pay of 32.5 CPM was just too low compared to other companies out there, including a couple of megas. So is it safe to say after 3 months new drivers will get a raise to 0.40+ cpm? That may be something to think about for me if its the case. I'm assuming this is for tarp? Or can this be all across the board; refeer, tanks, dry, etc.

System called me yesterday asking me to come back... If things don't work out where I'm at now I just must do it. Would and to go back OTR instead of just regional though.

I guess John didn't take it that personally after all :D. The new pay scale is pretty sweet and it's a decent place to work.

Yeah I was very surprised that's for sure. This will seem strange but after working for a company with paper logs and a bad safety score it might be nice to make the same or better money and not work as hard. Plus not be hassled all the time at scales.

ha :D. That thought crosses my mind from time to time, but hey this is our last chance to enjoy the old ways before E-logs get mandated and #### everything up. My companies safety score is perfect. No driver OOS Violations out of 9 driver inspections in the last 2 years. 1/1 bad vehicle inspections in the last 2 years, but you don't get a score good or bad until you've had at least 3. We run nice newer equipment generally so I don't even know how we got that 1, but #### happens.

The company I'm with now actually pays a fair bit less than systems, but they were the only one willing to put me in a bull rack with my age and having no livestock experience so no complaints. I also get home a couple nights a weeks normally or full weekends at the minimum. I get home for a full 2 days off here. Not that get in Friday night leave Sunday morning right after your 34 hr reset that Systems gives you on their regional fleets.

Your company actually has a lower than the national average driver OOS inspection history, but your vehicle OOS is ####### horrible. 72 OOS vehicle inspections with a total of 163 done in the last 2 years bringing you to 44.2% OOS rate over double the national average for vehicle OOS inspections in the last 2 years. I don't know about you, but my standards for my equipment are higher than the DOT's.

Especially pulling a bull rack we can't be using ###### equipment. We got live animals on board. No time to stop and #### around with the equipment.

Speaking of that got a cool picture the other day. We mostly run triple axle trailers with 4 axle trucks, but i got the baby tandem trailer for the day as they were short trailers and I'm the new guy. It's actually easier to load so no big deal.

I just gave them a call. They are hiring new student drivers for .40/cpm for their refrigerated division. The biggest problem I have with Systems Transportation is location. 60mph Washington, 55mph in Oregon and California. With a gov at 62 mph, and likely traveling through Arizona, NM, and Texas, I may be a hazard to others. If I'm going 62 mph and cars are flying past me at a speed limit of 75 to 85 mph... wow. How do you guys deal with that?

Most all trucks are governed 55-65 now so you won't be anymore of a danger than the rest of em. Just stay in the right lane and us bull racks will do what we we do in the left lane :). Cows don't got time to wait on speed governed trucks and E-logs.

Honestly I think you need to just do it or not. If you've read many of my post at all you know I'm a research junkie and like to know everything about everything before i do anything, but at some point you have to jump and see what happens. I created this thread so other research junkies would have a resource to use as no such resource existed when I was considering Systems Transport. The information you have in this thread is at least 100X more than what i had when I jumped on that plane and rode up there Which may be the problem. The more you know the more you know you don't know which leads to more questions which leads to paralysis by way of curiosity which while I like you need to make a move at some point or not.

This line of work doesn't work out for most, but you won't know until you try it and I can't write a novel long enough to tell you what it's like to live out here and deal with everything we do. It's something you have to live and feel because words fall short of being able to describe what this life is like. Good luck.

Ramblingman, how was your 6 to 8 week OTR training? Schneider has like a 1 week training which I can deal with... but 6 weeks in a truck with another person puts a sour taste in my mouth... which is why I'm looking outside of OTR.

It was f***king horrible and a waste of time. By far the most difficult 2 months of my life, but I'm an extremely introverted person. Being stuck with people for more than 12 hours a day gives me alot of anxiety and really overwhelms me. Anything more than 2 weeks is a waste of time for most people IMO. You will learn more in your first week by yourself than you did in 2 months of training because you have no crutch to lean on.

Yeah, people get into this profession to be away from idiots and ### holes... and now the industry wants us to share a bed with a total stranger? I just don't understand how these people can put up with all this crap. I'm going to school for 4 months... they can't teach me anything I haven't already learned... I'll have to talk to the recruiter and see if he can give me an exception... may be able to stick it out for a month...
