    This one's a head scratcher.

The gauges occasionally will start zeroing out ( oil pressure, water temp, tach and speedo ) Sometimes they stay off for a while and then return. Odometer will say "no data" and the voltage indicator will go to zero and then slowly come back up. Charging system is fine.

Have had the instrument cluster out and popped a good functioning one in for a day ( we had one on the shelf ) - same thing.

I'm thinking the connector that passes through the floor by the base of the drivers seat - close to where the ECM hookup for the laptop is.

Anyone had a similar problem and what did you find? Thanks.

My 2007 Western Star is doing the same thing. It may be one or more gauges at a time. They go to zero and then come back to normal.

Hopefully, some one will have a solution.

ground, ground, ground, batteries to frame, frame to cab, cab to back of dash, back of dash to gauge cluster. If they are coming back to life then the cluster should still be OK but the surges will eventually kill it. This time of year the brine they spray kill everything metal and is absolutely deadly to wiring. Just my $0.02...

I was kind of thinking the same thing. That has to be the lowest level voltage pass through and the most sensitive to ground issues, because I'm not getting flicker in cab lights, or any other intermittent signs of grounding issues.

If I find it, I'll post it back up here.

Ive got an 07 columbia does exact same thing!!!! I traced it to the wire running from the battery to the ECM…..I re-done the wire on the battery and hasn't given me an issue since….
