Something like this cb needs to be returned to the company who made it to get repaired because of the technology they use, most "techs" can't work on surface mount components or understand how to.

The amazing thing is that this is another glorified CB passed off as a 10 meter rig, and the technology seems to be something like 15 years old ... so sorry guys but my Kenwood ts-140s is programmable, has a better receive and transmit and actually costs less.

I agree, but not everybody wants a HAM rig. I usually using my Yaesu FT-857D as well. But again--not everybody want it.

I don't know the radio but I know many out our network routers and switches we had there was nothing for a "tech" to fix. It was all solid state and even resistors and etc. had to be soldered in at the factory. Its probably the same with radios.

Yes its a very good radio. It will work well with your Francis antennas. Dollars to doughnuts, Francis for the money are very good, the 5.5 is my recommendation, As far as antennas overall, the 102 inch steel whip always wins, just has a problem with hitting everything in the world, but thats why it works. Next is Monkey Made and Styker, followed by Francis then everyone else.

This opinions where from actual testing with a Galaxy 99 set at 5 watts, locations was Mirage Drylake, Adelanto CA. Distance was 5 miles across the lake flat no obstructions. Antennas were mounted to the mirrors of a Freightliner Classic.

I'd rather have the Kenwood too.........My tech is not "most techs". He does work on surface mount stuff and has the equipment to do so.....
