Freightliner does not make an engine brake. The jake and power of it,.. is determined by what ever engine is in the truck. I have an 05 Columbia with a CAT 15. Excellent engine brake. Cummins and CAT have probably 2 of the best in my opinion.

BUT
a. CAT doesn't make on road engines anymore
b. Mercedes owns Freightliner
b1. Mercedes owns detroit diesel
c. many many freightliners come with DD's (or worse a mercedes engine in years past) since that's the lowest cost truck out there.
and those trucks..... ain't a gotta no engine brake worth the name. -
Oh and Mercedes doesn't own Freightliner. Daimler Chrysler owns both Freightliner and Mercedes. -
Only half of our P&D trucks have engine brakes. Doesn't really matter since our company mechanics adjust them to the point where they just make a minor rumble noise without slowing down the trucks much at all. Better than nothing I guess (although not by a whole lot).

The only companies owned by Mercedes are car companies, not Freightliner

dear warehouse people
is it so hard to understand that later stops GO ON THE BOTTOM OF THE PALLETS and earlier stops go on the top? why is this so hard???????
oh, and pallets of goods that extend beyond the pallet can't be on the tail if you actually expect me to get the 10 pallets on the other side out the door?????
arrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhGearjammin' Penguin Thanks this. -
well, I don't necessarily have an assigned route, but if you take charge you can basically just take the open routes. Same schedule again this week, helps tons.
I notice that case count is up about 10% over last month, trucks are definately getting fuller. which is good since case count is the key to making money (we get paid on cases, miles and stops)
wrote up the trailer I had saturday for 3 things (including a bad tire, large chunks of tread missing). Just by coincidence I got the same trailer on monday. Guess what wasn't fixed? (actually only 1 thing was fixed and it wasn't the tire)
annoyed.
They took down the route bid sheets, apparantly it wasn't right, so now it has to be reworked, then posted, then we have 2 weeks after posting. Shoot, I'll probably move up another spot or two before i ever get to actually bid. On the plus side i get to keep my money route for thurs/fri/sat that will certainly disappear to a higher ranked person. (pays really well)
