Nah, I'm still a noob in too many ways...

Speaking of, does anyone know the process for cashing a comcheck? Turned down a broker due to their credit and they offered to pay by comcheck. I've paid lumpers by it, but never cashed one and that load didn't have time to fiddle fart around...

I like to get them printed out at a Loves and depositing them in my bank.

In your case I would be doing that before delivering the load to make sure the code is good of course lol

You just take the express code into the counter and they make you one check or multiple smaller ones if you want to cash a few hundred. Easy as can be.

Probably should have taken it -- $1000 on 200 loaded miles (250 total) going from a 19 load/truck market to a 16 load/truck market... But the broker had no credit history on DAT and 150 days to pay on ITS, so here I sit catching up on Jinx.

I believe you may cash up to $200 comcheck for free with 50 gallon purchase. So just take the express code and transfer it to blank comchecks for $200 each and cash each time you get fuel til the money is converted to cash in your hand. Otherwise pay a % fee at the counter for the entire amount.

Cash and carry up front is all the credit check I need lol

I use them all the time. Get a blank Comchek at any truckstop.
Give the Comchek number to the broker.
Before unloading call the number on the Comchek. Punch in the Comchek number and it will tell you if it's good or not.
Once it's good it can't be cancelled. It's the same as a bank check.
You can use the Comchek to buy fuel then get your change or you can cash it at most truckstop chains for a fee.
You have to use it all or nothing.
Flying J cashes Comcheks for up to $999.99

Just to repeat. There are many questionable brokers who want to get back in the game and use a Comchek. Just make sure you call the automated number and check if it's good or not BEFORE unloading. I had one case where they said the girl was at the bank putting money on it and I should unload now. I didn't. This went back and forth for a few hours. Every excuse in the book.

The owner of the company came out. Looked at my rate agreement, went to the bank and paid me in cash. The broker went ballistic for 3 days trying to tell me I had to give him the money then he would give it back. YA RIGHT!!! lol

When I was in the clothing business I had a customer that desperately wanted to order clothes, but had bad credit. They FAXED me a check.

I promptly faxed them pictures of the clothes.
