Yep, both true. I don't think PP had a dyno until recently. They just want their money and that's it.

I think it's funny how KR has these projects with his "industry partners" and when a project flops like the first Signature Truck he simply aligns himself with different partners because they're on to something bigger and better than the previous one. I think his ego controls him and he wants so badly to have something to provide proof that he isn't just spewing bull butter.

I brought this up in another forum a while ago when the turbo 3000d was promoted as the next best thing after sliced bread.

The comment I made is this - with all the standards on testing in this world, especially from that pesky company called SAE, has any one of these devices actually gone through an actual third party test using a set of strict standards to see if it works or not?

I got bashed by the pro-turbo3000d people over that one but it brings up a point, with all of this third party crap that can be put on a truck to make it run better/get better mileage/make the owner feel better ===> has anyone ever properly tested it and went on Rutherford's show to talk about the results, whether negative or positive?

I think KR has some useful info. Most of it is common sense, but I feel there are people that benefit from some of it. The problem I have is when he pushes all the products. Yes they will work for some but certainly won't work for all.

Pulling a cow trailer my mpg's can easily vary 1-1.5 mpg on any given day depending on wind, weight, etc. I pulled in to load out in CA 2 years ago and there was a guy in front of me with Airtabs on his trailer. When I asked him why he spent the money to put them on what is basically a parachute he said "KR said I'd gain 2/10ths".

It is entertaining, like slowing down to look at a bad accident.

It's also a bit of a riddle, my best guess at this moment is that Detroit knew PP was going to take the engine apart and reassemble with microblue parts. Therefore, they got clever, and rather than taking the time to properly lube, torque and measure they sort of slapped the thing together.

But over at PP, they also got clever and decided to take a shortcut and slap the pan back on without putting in the Microblue bearings. Thinking that Detroit had perfectly measured, torqued and assembled the crank, why repeat ? who will ever know ?

There's a lot of allegations out there against PP, I thought this one from 2012 was interesting. post #22 http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...erience-pittsburgh-power-diesel-repair-3.html

The question is -- if they weren't going to put Microblue parts on, why even pull off the pan?

My best guess is that Jeff and Kathy paid PP thinking they were getting a Detroit reman with microblue parts. PP decided to pad their profit even more and just bought a scrap yard engine, did a shade-tree quality overhaul (Remanned Detroit is the same as Detroit reman, amirite?), took a picture of them assembling the microblue cam bearings for facebook, and then painted the #### thing to look good at the truck shows.

If I were Jeff & Kathy, I'd be calling Detroit with my serial number to see if they actually touched it since new...

Well, they have the engine posed for a picture with the pan off on the track that truck page. and pictures of them installing the cam bearings. If you'll recall Bruce commented on KR's Sunday show about the tooling Detroit has to install the crank, how it is the best you can get. I thought that was odd because other than that statement in particular he was throwing doubt at Detroit, Microblue, Jeff and Kathy, the Iowa shop. pretty much everyone. But when it came to crank assembly he felt the need to point out that Detroit has the best process for that. interesting....

I couldn't tell you who ordered the engine, to follow up with my hypothesis (and that's all it is, a guess really) I would like to imagine Bruce calling whoever he calls to get a block and having a little chuckle about how they're going to be tearing it right back apart to put in the MicroBlue parts. "hahaha, what a crazy world. Can you have it here Monday ? good thanks" would be how I would imagine it. Just giving the guy enough info to think they could get away with a slap together job. Hence the non microblue, prematurely worn bearings.

I'm just throwing that out there, it's just a guess, I'm having fun playing Sherlock. But whatever the real explanation is, it has to explain not only the abscense of Microbluing, but also the premature wear.

That also makes sense, they do have the pics of putting in the cam bearings though, on what appears to be a fresh Detroit reman. If you wanted to pull them out of there and stick them in a scrap yard engine talking the owner into an engine paint job would be the way to do it. And Kathy did say it was Bruce's idea to paint it to match the truck. hmmmm, lol. It does seem like there would be a paper trail though. gotta be an engine serial number on the BOL whoever delivered the engine to PP from detroit.
