DO not be surprised if they get rid of the yard jockey company, and have their own employee's. If one of the schools is truck driving, they may have a master plan you are not aware of just yet. Otherwise, they know they will lose not only you, but all the other employee's seeking more education in other fields. Amazon has grown, and continues to do so by leaps and bounds. They want to put a D/C center up here in New England. Do not be surprised if they need drivers to ferry products from one d/c center to another!

Oh it has definitely grown by leaps and bounds. Even my warehouse near Allentown PA.

Wasn't even half the staff in 2011 as there are now. Up until 2013 we barely got anything from other DCs and now we get stuff shipped from at least 10 DCs across the country and it's constantly growing. One nice thing I will say is that most of the truck drivers are fairly regular and we get to know them and by extension, get to know the companies as well.

I am only slightly familiar with some of the Allentown area. I used to haul for DHL, and I had to go to Schantz Rd, down the street from the Kraft warehouse. LOT'S of warehouses down there. I think that run from Mass to there was about 5.5 hours? I had to make round trips 5 days a week, it is doable. So if they put up a d/c center here in Mass (which I think IS the area they spoke of), it may have to be team, or at the very least, drive as far as you can on your 11, take a break. Or take a break up here in Mass, return after the 10 off.

According to the email, it's actually being taught at the warehouse by an instructor from the local community college.

Makes me wonder even more if Amazon's grand plan is to employ it's own truck drivers.

Just had my CDL physical done. Barely passed. My eyesight is ****. At least, my left eye is. My right eye could see nearly all the chart, but had a hard time seeing half of it with my left eye but managed to pass. Knew my glasses weren't so good anymore, but did not think they were *that* bad. Might not even be my eyes. I've occasionally had my glasses knocked off and bent by boxes falling on me at work and it's pretty much impossible to get them to fit perfect again.

4th weekend of school now and we're out of the classroom and in the trucks :D

4 students and 1 instructor in the truck and we were taking turns driving around an industrial complex today in the morning. I have yet to get the hang of shifting. Do ok with single clutching, but we have to use double clutching to pass the cdl road test. My timing wasn't good and I was clutching too slowly so I kept missing gears and letting the clutch out too hard. Towards the end of my driving time I was trying to go faster and seemed to do a lot better at it.

In the afternoon we were doing straight line backing. Absolutely no issues at all with that. I was able to keep it perfectly straight down the center of the pathway and stop right on the lines at the start and end of the pathway without the instructor having to direct me. Smooth braking and starting as well. We weren't using the throttle though, only letting it idle forwards and backwards.

Then I was the lucky one to park the truck and drop the trailer at the end of the day
