Is that why they run a 2" ratchet strap from door handle to door handle inside the cab to keep them from falling out of the truck? :mconfused:

    Done.

I passed the final exam, missing only 2 questions, one because my guess was wrong and the other because I didn't read slow enough. I now am an employee of Western Express, with a 2-year med card, driver ID, EFS card, and my very own Daily Training Journal!

My anticipated "graduation date" is one week from today, April 2. Based on my experience in the last three days, that surely seems like a very short trainer session in which to learn everything I need to know about securing a load on my way to becoming a competent flatbed driver, especially having spent this day with Robert (if you work here, you know who it is; he only needs his first name, common as it is, to drive spears of angst into every WE driver) watching the poor quality of the load securement with which some drivers try to leave. Two of the loads were downright unsafe and would have departed the truck in probably the first good turn or jolt - both drivers were taken off the road right then and put back into load securement remedial training - the rest we just tore down and rebuilt.

All I need now is my trainer to return from Ohio via Michigan to get here Saturday...

Congats on getting this far Denali and good luck with the trainer!
Hopefully we won't encounter the ones whom couldn't
grasp the securement training out on the highways.

Ok,,I am caught up now.. Just remember brother, flatbedders don't mind helping fellow flatbedders, or anyone for that matter. What I am trying to say is, get you a phone number of someone you trust that knows securement and just call that person when you have doubts or questions, regarding your load in the future. Nothing wrong with asking for help or advice... Hope you have a smart phone, so you can take pictures too...

You hit the nail on the head with having someone you can call on as a resource when there is a difficult load to secure. Be ready to ask for help when needed and offer help also. If I go back into trucking it'll be flatbeds because there did seem to be more of a sence of brotherhood between flatbedders than van drivers.
