Does anyone have any experience working for Transforce? They have an opening for a local gig in my area and the pay seems to be better than most local jobs around here. And they pay time and a half for anything over 40 hrs, which is fairly rare in trucking (at least around here).

i guess I just want to hear others experiences with Transforce and whether it was positive or negative. I'm really skeptical of working for a staffing agency, but it sounds like a decent gig and I'm really burnt out on OTR driving. Thanks in advance for any input.

Many of these driver leasing companies charge the employer more money as they know a driver's time is worth something. Many also offer full benefits if you stay long enough. One benefit is that if you do not like your gig, you call them and they find you something else. Pay around here is about $22. per hour.

Although I haven't heard of Transforce, this is pretty much a regular operating system.

They were hiring in my area for a company out of Nashville called Ms wire. The recruiter seemed nice but I found something that would get me home often vs every weekend. From my dealings with the recruiter, they seemed to be straight forward and honest. Can't beat those traits in a recruiter.

Transforce is a driver leasing company,

You work when they have work and sit home when they don't have work. They have customers who they provide drivers to. Sometimes you fall into a job that becomes permanent. Sometimes you are the relief driver. They, like everyone else are trying to meet demand to fill seats.

I worked for one of their competitors for over 10 years. The competitor and Transforce traded accounts. One year Transforce had it, the next they lost it. One account went from hourly with mine to set pay per run working for them.

The good side to these leasing companies is you can switch around to different companies gaining different driving experiences. You work record shows only one employer, Transforce.

With these type of companies you are a contractor, you are issued a 1099 at the end of the year. So you don't have any benefits or worker comp insurance.

Not totally accurate I have worked for a couple that pay you as a regular employee with direct deposit pay check and you can go on line and print out every week. I agree with most other comments. One of them I worked for paid O/T after 8 hrs. I applied with trans force one time but their application wanted too much personal information that I felt was none of their business. Never been asked some of those questions by anyone else so I didn't answer them for Trans force.

I worked for a driver leasing company for a few years.
They had W-2 pay, insurance and all.

I was on a truckload no touch route for a grocery chain.
Home every day, time and a half after 40.....not a bad gig.

They can help you land a full time job and after so many weeks the company will hire you direct if you like the job.
If not...try several assignments until you find a good one.

    Transforce is a w-2 company.

    Leasing works basically like this.

Company needs drivers. Doesn't like the idea of a risk of million dollar suits from something a knucklehead driver does. They call Transforce or others.

Leasing company hires drivers, sometimes the whole dot compliance and equipment is in the package.

Leasing company pays drivers wages, WC, SSI and all the other normal employee costs.

Leasing company bills the customer for the service and ads points (AKA percentage) to handling the paperwork and assuming liability.

Also included is a factoring service for carrying the paper and financing on the drivers. Think of it as leasing company loans the money to pay the drivers and the customer floats the money net 7 to net 30. Net means payment due by 7 days or 30 days in this example.

About average for driver leasing places.
mine was 16 an hour but the time and a half after 40 hours sure bumped the check up.
Was a super easy deal too....
