I think we need to laugh at this problem. We all know 50lbs isn't going to raise any issues with any enforcement groups. 50lbs? In the immortal words of John McEnroe, "you can NOT be serious!"

Heck i've hauled 200 lbs over and knew it.No dot ever gave me an overweight ticket.

Generic I thank you for a fun read. Some of the posters are hilarious.

I was 1100 over axle once, and the scale guy let me go after I explained that the tandem pins were stuck. I was well under gross, so I guess he believed me. He looked over my logs & paperwork, and then wrote me a warning for the defective release and pin assembly. He told me to get out of his scale house, and to drive safe. I was pretty lucky I guess.

Shoot you'd have to be well over 34k for the scale master to even give you more than a glancing look. I had a load that kept creeping forward and after fueling I got pulled around at the Roanoke NB scale on I81. Officer told me I was just a little over (under 1000 lbs) and could I slide. I could and he told me to slide my tandems and hit the scale. If I got the green, I was free to go. I slid and rescaled, got the green and I headed on out.
They didn't even look at my logbook. -
Im sorry but there is no way anyone would call and complain they are 50 lbs over weight unless they are a Rookie. here are some options for the Newb.
Drain all the oil out to cut weight
Drain the Coolant out
Drain the blinker Fluid
Cut off the Kunuten Valve and Muffler or Remove the Muffler Bearings
Throw out the jake brake
Fill the tires with Super Light Weight Helium
Tell the Recreational Reptile to get out.........
Just some suggestionspeterbilt_2005, Joetro, Joews and 3 others Thank this. -

Geez, I run heavy on my drives with every load. I'm usually around 35-36k on the drives. But I can't slide the tandems on the tanker I pull, and the fifth wheel is all the way front. Been scaled a few times here in PA and never got in trouble. But then again, the scales around here are for decoration only.
