How many calls a day do you make to... and receive from... your DC while on the road?

I only ask because husband is getting ready to start with walmart and that's one of his pet peeves is he hates having to call constantly to keep his loads rolling down the road.

Current employer has to call constantly to straighten out loads. At least 3-4 times daily :-/

Such a vague question. We all have different jobs, different loads, different customers, different dispatchers and different experience levels.

Here's how it works - we are dispatched from the ROC - the Regional Operations Center - none of the DC's dispatch their own drivers - except for 1 that I know of which is Midway Tn - all loads are preplanned based on a drivers hrs. So you NEVER get a call from a DC about a load nor do you get calls from the ROC about loads. As long as you update on your on board computer the number of hrs you have to work, your loads are automatically planned. This is Walmart, there is no constant calling about loads, you don't go sit at a truck stop for 3 or 4 hrs after dropping a load waiting on your next move. You've got 14 hrs to work and trust me, they want to use every minute of it. I hope this has helped with some of the questions you had.
