Another episode of different strokes for different folks......Talked to a Butler Transport driver today, I thought maybe he had 1 to 2 yrs experience as I knew the pay starting out was 32 cpm. The guy seemed pretty proud announcing that he had been with Butler for 4+ yrs and was at TOP payscale at 38 cpm but the even better thing was that Butler was claiming 27 cents per day Per Diem from him. I said Buddy whatever makes you happy !

That doesn't sound right... Company per diem isn't supposed too save more than your standard per diem tax deduction would allow you. That's close to twice what it should be.

I think he was confused about how Butler does perdiem. Sounds like they do it similar to Poly...They pay him 38 cpm, but only tax him on 27 cpm. Poly pays 50 cpm on the hub, but when they compute your payroll, to get the taxable amount, they subtract the full $59 per day for every day you were under a load (not for every day you're away from home). So on a 3000 mile week, you gross $1500, and if you were under a load for 7 days they remove $413 from taxable income, so you are only taxed on $1087. You're paid the full 50 cpm, just not taxed on it. In the end, it works out o.k. Pre-Poly I use to get a $4000+ refund (of the money I loaned Uncle Sam interest free)...this year I got about half that amount back.

Either way that pay rate sucks, perdiem or not.

Doesn't the per diem make it look like you have a lower yearly income? (Which would hurt if you're trying to get a loan.)

Big Apple update yesterday, let's see if it works. 👮🏿🙋🏿🙎🏾💁🏾👼🏿👸🏿🙋🏿👊🏿👎🏾

Anybody have to tailgate a load here? If so, what does it pay?

get the price beforehand, Crete is super cheap, they think you should do it for free. For the privilege of working there.
Last year, I helped the guy drag the pallets off by me handling that pallet clamp on a rope and chain trick.
total pay for that was nothing,
So, Crete has paid for hundreds of useless CAT scale tickets.
I might weigh 300 miles from the shipper with a 4,000 lb load.
Yet. I am still the most valuable resource.

When Crete tells you guys to get unloaded during your 10 hour break and the restroom is the bushes beside the customer... have you ever replied.. "is that how you treat your most valuable resource?" :biggrin_2559:

I just got voted MVR, but you know where I'll spend my nights. Sadly, I just spent the night at the Lowes in Tulsa, ended up eating at Jimmy Johns, the nearby Ritz Caberat was closed. And if you Yelp that place, some odd looking girls there. But a full bar. 💩
