Guess I've been lucky so far. Longest was only 5 hours at the Walmart d.c. in Douglas, GA about a week ago.
P.S. - Bit of advice for any drivers going there: The two main roads running north/south thru town are the only roads big trucks are allowed. $93 fine if you get on any of the others. Bet you can't guess how I know. -
Anheiser Bush, Williamsburg, Va. I sat 18 hrs. for a live load (no detention)

I had a load of tires for an auto supplier in Al. had to be there by 6am or the assembly plant they fed would shut down etc. etc. I got there the night before, got up at 5:30 to find my empty wasn't quite as empty as one would've liked. I had those little "spacesaver" spares, they take 1 of mine, put it on a rim, match it with 4 full size they also put on rims, band them for shipment across town to the plant. All day I watched them work, fielded calls from dispatch "well, are they almost done?" and explored nowhere Al. Long story short, they finished up around 4:30 am. Yes, I got detention, no, it doesn't pay for missing a days driving.

I think certian places in Alabama are trying to set some kind record for the biggest pain in the arse.

San Juan Bautista, CA right after spinach scare last year, suppose to be paid for 3 days of detention - Dole wanted us to be there as soon as spinach was cleared to ship. Never collected detention pay, but made it on the tv news as one of the 1st trucks in the plant.

Cargil. Why they even bother to make appointments is beyond me. 24 to 26 hours there for live loads. They make the appointments a week ahead of time and the day your suppose to get there they still don't have all the product ready to load. Oh we're still waiting for it to come from the manufacturer. My husband looked at them once and said, "Hell, that could of been flown in from across Japan in that amount of time."

The longest wait I had was 9 1/2 hrs sitting in some farmers field south of Sweetwater, TX on a wind farm waiting to get a crane boom section and some counterweights lifted. Another driver and myself arived the night before and I was the second truck in line that morning, but they took the trucks in order of their loads so that way they could assemble the crane as the parts were offloaded. If you count the night before...it was about 19 hrs.

9 hrs to be loaded actually 8hrs 25 min waiting for dock and 35 min actually in the dock.
Johnson-Diversey Sturtevant Wi
Lucky me I'm picking up a hazmat load there tomorrow
