I have a bigger issue with the audio than the visual. Why do hear you as well?
Eckoh Thanks this. -
That means it can be controlled from a distance.
Even if it's wired directly to the Qualcom, same thing.
They can connect to it via the Qualcom and send whatever command they feel like. They can see every file stored in the camera and download any file at any time.
The Cobra dash cam that I had (until it broke) had this same thing.
Most settings could not even be accessed except through the Wi-Fi using a smart phone.
And it's not about 'creating' an event. They are files, just like on your hard drive in your computer. They can be copied at will.OceanDan, sisterannie and Kindle Thank this. -
Sure, they can't trigger an event remotely.
But they do have access to any file stored on the device.
Another question is something like, 'Can Swift watch me in real time?'
Answer - no.
But they might be able to download the file from 3 minutes ago, which is almost real time.OceanDan Thanks this. -
The carefully worded FAQ's and the fact the talking head looks straight into the camera and spouts lie after lie is more reason to be concerned than the camera itself.

I have sent an email to the ask Richard addy. Someone claimed Richard called them. We'll see. My email albeit diplomatic was not flattering.

I'd be careful about sending e-mail responses to this issue.
Responding simply tells them who is more likely to quit, and the result could mean fewer miles - or worse.
I really doubt they are basing what they do on our opinion of it.
They are not stupid or ignorant, and they knew before doing this how drivers would feel about it.
I know I would if I were in their position.
Inviting e-mail responses seems like a setup to me. -

Now you're being paranoid Moose.
Swift is going about this as any good disciple of incrementalism. I won't drive with a driver facing cam, period.
I make this public challenge here. Let anyone, driver, family member, or general public proffer a SINGLE benefit for the DRIVER from a company installed driver facing cam.kutscher007 and Clyde07 Thank this.
