    I'd be interested to know if they fixed that stupid fuel gage that bounces around and flashes red light empty while I'm driving. If they can't get a simple thing like that right, no wonder there's bigger issues as well.

    I can tell u on my 660 its a big no my fuel gauge is crazy i set my trip everytime i fuel up and at about 1000 to 1200 miles depending on weight and terrain i get fuel

    So go drive for Schneider then???

    Unless you own your truck or have self financed on your own a company has every right to demand a deposit for a pet.

    I wish they'd demand a deposit for those who smoke too but I digress.

    No its a fixed lease payment 2016 Freightliner is 850-950a week, (1yr minimum) which INCLUDES a maintenance amount, YES, fuel surcharge and a $0.20+ cent discount at Pilot/Flying J which is changed every, and the standard $0.05 at Loves & TA.
    I agree there is much more to consider, and that high Pet Deposit and Company Dispatched loads are just a couple things to compare, the thought of picking my own loads off the Choice load board and going where I want to go is appealing, and it's all dry van, no reefer, you want a live load pick one, pre load pick one, short haul, long haul it's up to you, No govern, and a low rear end to give you speed and good fuel economy.
    And more money will go to you unlike a variable lease payment that just gives the company MORE as you run more miles. Schneider even pays the first 6 months of ATBS....So when you compare the two there are differences, and one being it's not a walk away that either party can terminate at will with or without cause, to lose your Schneider lease you really have to screw up, not just having a unauthorized pet.

    That's good to know. A high weekly fixed lease payment works against your bottom line very fast when you take home time or are broken down for a few days. With JCT it's $120 and 18 cpm, much more flexible. That's why I think that a one time pet policy deposit is a small issue compared to long term profitability. Of course knowing Schneider's fuel surcharge would be helpful. With JCT it's 46 cpg. I wish it were a percentage so that fluctuations in fuel price don't hurt the bottom line. I don't have orientation scheduled until the middle of May, so I have time to make sure JCT is the best way to go. Thanks for your information.

    I didn't say go work for anyone just doing a comparison and one is looking tempting.
    As for a company requiring a Pet Deposit, if you are leasing the truck the lease terms are no different than coming from a dealership except you can't take the truck to haul another companies loads, (with JCT) so to throw a high deposit on pets but none on smokers just makes you wonder if the Pet Deposit is meant to discourage because to a non smoker a smelly cigarette smelling truck is just as bad.
    But no I don't believe a finance company has any right to require an additional amount because of you having a pet in the truck you are paying for. That is VERY company driver like and not Owner Operator like at all.

    With JCT it's not just $120, totally untrue, you still have ALL of your fixed cost health insurance, taxes ect. Count on $350-400 fixed total a week.
    And NO JCT fuel surcharge is like $0.25 cpm, and Schneiders is pretty much the same so when you throw in that discount at Pilot/Fly J you have a substantial savings in fuel.
    And 850-950 a week is not high when it includes your maintenance amount also.
    JCT variable you will pay $0.27-$0.29 a mile for your payment and maintenance that's the combined amount.
    And since this is a business decision the drivers at Schneider have a average weekly revenue of about $4000, you'll never see that at JCT and if you do its a rare week indeed.
    In short it's really up to the drivers individual preference and what type of situation they want, I would never tell anyone not to goto JCT, but do make the decision with your eyes wide open because EVERY company will make money off your work, the question is how much of it will go in your pocket versus theirs.
    And when you can control your revenue by picking your own loads instead of someone picking a load for you, that puts you in control of how much you make not a planner. And with Schneider you can pick loads that deliver in your city and be home often while making money so lengthy home times aren't necessary, not to mention the fact that they pay 65% of the gross revenue on the load. So making enough money to cover the payment because you want a vacation for a week or two shouldn't be a problem.
    It's really about how much control over your revenue do you want.
    And at Schneider you can stay in a new truck every single year if that's what you choose, or you can drive and pay it off and just extend the lease a year at a time.
