Been in many of those situations. If the driver was visible in his truck, I would ask him to spot me on the CB when I didn't feel comfortable. Especially at night where reflections in the mirrors compound the problem. Most drivers were really friendly about it.
Refusing a back.

Come to think of it...... I did refuse a back in once in Disputanta Virginia at food distributor. I had a dock in between two trucks that didn't center themselves to the dock correctly. Both trucks were hogging my lane. I went back into the building and told them what was going on. They didn't care less and called my company/dispatcher. My dispatcher called me to check things out, and i told him it was a no go until one of the trucks pulled out. He agreed with me, and told me to take care of it any way which was safe. I waited............no worries!

Where I delivered this morning, the fun wasn't backing in, that was the easy part. The fun part was getting out without putting a dent in my new truck.

You shouldn't need to be a veteran super trucker just to make your delivery, lol. You can tease me as much as you want. I've never turned one down yet, but I don't take much pride in this job. My pride begins and ends at the fact that my license is squeaky clean, and I already make more money than I have before in my life. You can keep your mesh hat and Super trucker pride, I'm fine making a paycheck that's the same or more than most out here, and I'll do it without putting my license and equipment at risk.millsjl01 and jdiesel3406 Thank this. -
Brandson you're a good dude. I like you but I like to bust balls more, lol. But I started my career on the east coast, Philly, Jersey, NYC, Boston, etc. Thats where I learned everything I know (and believe me it's not much). The tighter the better sometimes, lol. I've backed in some strange places and places that some think are impossible. They're not. A lot of us out east learned to do it that way

Sir, many a driver pick up or deliver in the very same docks or where ever . many complain while others get it done. I refused to back into a dock once in downtown New Orleans due to the narrow road with cars parked curb side bumper to bumper.. The hour of delivery was the wrong time.. As a result the frieght was off loaded by hand.. What will you accomplish by refusal when others can and do deliver?
