And this surprises you ?? Something hasn't been right since day one with the TND 700, I have always hoped that the routing would improve over time but I don't think it will until they start using a different system. This has been my biggest peeve with the Rand units.

Is there a particular brand of SD card that is recommended for my 720? I've got access to fast internet right now, so I went in walmart and bought a couple of micro SD cards. Neither of them seem to fit. They go in the hole, but they wiggle and flop around. Even when they seem to engage a spring, they are loose. And one went flying halfway across the parking lot. Found it. Eventually.

Been making a few wrong turns lately, etc., hoping to fix that. Thanks!

Never mind. I need to switch jobs. Maybe find a nice little yellow bus to drive... a really short one...

    Yup. Backwards.

Idea: stick the #### files on a memory stick, and sell it at trucks tops for $20 or so... Yawn...

I suggest a Class 10 (it has the number 10 on it) and either a 8gb or 16gb. If it flops around in the port it may not be inserted correctly. Yes that little spring will shoot it out if your finger slips off it while inserting it.

    Thanks,

Okay - the chip I bought last night turned out to be a Class 4. Found a computer store, bought a Class 10, copied the folder from the 4-chip to the 10-chip. Things still seem to be Really Slow.

Thanks a lot for your help - we really appreciate it. I really like the general function of the GPS - was just hoping that I could get some new roads/interchanges (I hate going "jeeping"), and updated phone numbers, etc., for the event I have to call ahead to a POI...

Nothing wrong with "Jeeping", but in a Jeep.

The maps are the most current. With the class 10 it should not be slow.

    Thanks,
    mark

Buying off the internet. I have been in a discussion with a driver who found a website that started with Rand, but the rest of the URL was simply saying factory outlet. RM does NOT have a factory outlet. All refurbs are sold directly off the RM website. A lot of people will build an URL to trick you be it a letter that is different or calling them close to the original name.

    BUYER BEWARE.

Anybody can set up a website and pretend to be something they are not. Use your judgment.

    http://www.randmcnally.com/pages/where-to-buy-tnd

These are the authorized dealers. RM will honor warranties if you buy from them. Unauthorized sellers such as the website the user went to the warranty will probably not be honored.

    Thanks,
    Mark
