Very few trucking companies will hire a new driver with only an 18 day CDL school. That's why I recommended the 8 week CDL school.
Georgia Driver's Academy, Columbus, GA or South Ga Tech in Americus, GA?

I used one on the SE Perimeter of I-285 in ATL and had a blast. Everything was as promised and after 3 weeks I had a Job with FFE and went to Lancaster, TX to start my driving career. One of the best decisions of my life.

Georgia Driving Academy was 3 weeks and a blast!

Completely, totally and utterly untrue.
My god the misinformation that goes on in this place is staggering. It blows my mind to think that people that come here for advice ever end up driving a truck. It also amazes me that you say that with such authority......you don't preface it with an "I dont think" or an "I could be wrong but" ......you state it as fact and you are 1000% wrong. I'm sorry dude, but almost everything that comes out of your mouth is incorrect. I swear you must be a shill for some company or something....I just dont get it.
An 18 day program will be right around 160 to 165 hours.
Name me ONE company that accepts student level drivers in the first place that will not accept 160 hours of training. For every one that won't, I can name twenty that will.....and I am talking some of the best paying and difficult to get hired by companies in the country.
TMC, DOT Transportation, System Transport, Crete, Melton, Kiem TS, McElroy, Fed Ex Ground, Fed Ex Freight, YRC, Coca Cola, Sysco, Sygma, Mclane, R&H......the list goes on and on. All of those companies will hire you right out of a 160 hour school that is state accredited.
Why in gods name would I want to waste my time in an 8 week program filled with a bunch of filler and garbage when I could be done in 3 weeks and off to work? I got news for you....the 8 weeks programs are usually going to be technical colleges or community college programs. They are 8 weeks because they have to be to qualify for federal funding, Title IV criteria and credit hours. It has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with giving you more training or behind the wheel time.
A CDL schools only job is to get you past the test and off to work where you can be really trained on how to become a truck driver.....by a trucking company on the job, while you are getting paid. 8 weeks of CDL school is 5 more weeks of being unemployed for no reason other than to meet the schools funding requirements, not to make you a better driver.akfisher Thanks this. -
Amen, to the above post. Mine was I am pretty sure 21 days or 160 hours.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
Yes, an 18 day school is fine if it's 160 hrs. -

I only get on a rage when I see you post complete and total nonsense.
If you dont know what you are talking about, please dont post false information and claim that you do. People come here to seek information that affects their careers....their ability to provide for their family, to keep a roof over their head. They are doing so in hopes that an experienced driver or someone who understands the industry will give them guidance.
Nearly every single thing you say is either wrong or complete opinion, nothing factual. You are potentially guiding someone right off the cliff into career suicide or at best, very costly mistakes.
Will you admit that what you posted in this thread was completely untrue? The majority of schools are around 150-165 hours because they have to be....otherwise no one will hire their students. Most private schools are around 15 to 20 day programs and they fit 150-165 hours within that time. If it takes you eight weeks to do 165 hours, something is wrong or the school is concerned about their funding, not your training our how fast you go back to work.
It is better to remain quite and have everyone think you a fool, rather than opening your mouth and removing all doubt.
