Rules are rules. they are there for a reason. A lesson learned. call the dot first in the states you are to pass thru. if possible have them fax, email or give you a chapter, verse on the pass thru fees. Just an idea.

Never Said it was okay to tell sexist or racist jokes, and especially in front of someone who may be offended. I just wanted to know where the racist remark was. I don't know if he is black, white, Chinese Mexican or anything else and I saw nothing about race in any comment. Not every disagreement is about race. -
I said off color not racist.
We have a difficult relationship with law enforcement and this kind of interaction does not help.
Speaking as someone who has to stop at every scale I cross, I do not need to be painted with the same just another "rude, #######" brush.
That is what I take offense to, act like professional since this is the profession chosen.skootertrashr6 Thanks this. -
Lets leave sexist and political comments off the forum, please.
I expect the two prior edits of inappropriate content to be quite sufficient.nofilter, skootertrashr6 and Little Eddy Thank this. -

I am not here to ONLY trash them, I am making sure other truckers are warned to go around Colorado. Call that a Favor : )
We are talking 2 very different things here, you are talking about a working truck.
I am talking about a truck just purchased running with temporary tags, that will soon be registered, licensed and pay for IFTA taxes, so that it can start working.
Most states understands you are just getting the truck home to get it ready to work, they don't jump at the chance of making $60 off of you, just cause you poor sucker had to cross their states.
As for Texas, It is the best states of all, you obviously have no idea how and who they are, or maybe they just don't like you and give you a hard time everytime you go through, you must be one of those democrats that don't totally get common sense.
I called Texas FMCSA (and yes FMCSA has a specific number for each state with a representative from each state), since there was no scale on I40, I wanted to make sure I was legal. They told me "Not to worry, you do not need to do anything to cross Texas with your new truck, nobody will bother you."
Texas is AWESOME
I stopped at Thermo King in Amarillo, to work on my APU, owned and operated by good ol' Texan and they too were absolutely awesome.
I Love and respect Texas, they are on the same mind-frame as I. They have common sense and a great attitude. -
I would like to point out that our relationship with Police and scale people might have alot more to do with Truckers leaving their piss bottles and garbage everywhere than teaching one of them a little common sense and/or as the other guy did: telling a gay joke.
How about truckers who only know how to drive the truck, have no idea what does what and endangers everyone with rust buckets ready to break down at any moment, and how about truckers who drive way too fast, especially with bad weather....
I hear much worse than jokes at truck stops, truckers with real dirty perverted mind, dirty lazy truckers who park in front of the truck stop so they don't have to walk far to go eat and bathroom. They leave their garbage and piss bottle right there on the ground. Now that offends me.
Mind you I don't get all uppity offended when some dirty minded trucker talks of what he would like to do to that chick over there in ugly details.....I pity the fool for being so disgusting.
Many also do not respect the law enforcement and bad talk them every chance they get, this also gets around to them.
I respect law enforcement, however they are not perfect and some of them need to learn a little common sense.
What I do get offended about: is truckers dirtying our land, making a bad name for the rest of usKujo Thanks this. -
FYI - the officer that will do your inspection in Texas will be working for the Texas DMV. The state FMCSA rep is a good resource if you need help reading the rulebook, but you might get more certain advice about state permits needed from the state law enforcement agency, not the federal rule making agency. Even if the rule makers happen to work in an office in that state.
There's no accounting for common sense. You really missed the mark with your political slur. It's usually lefties that move about with a sense of entitlement (rules are for other people) and get offended when big government picks their pocket instead of someone else's. Pot, meet kettle.
