So I'm supposed to be heading out tonite from Livermore to the Detroit terminal. That is perfect for me, get to run there over the holiday weekend and turn in the rental truck and pack up into my truck and get loaded out.
Saw an interesting video earlier--

Departed Livermore CA bound for Detroit MI early AM Friday. Today being Sunday had hoped to be in Council Bluffs IA at the Horeshoe throwing dice. But the rental truck broke down east of Laramie WY-- just about under the Lincoln bronze sculpture at I80X323. Penske was able to send another truck out several hours later and since I had already cleaned out the truck and put all my things in the trailer the swap went very quick once the tow truck guy bringing in the new bobtail got there. So didn't get as far as hoped, still on the western end of NE.
It was something to do with the clutch-- climbing the hill almost to the crest the tranny sounded like someone poured a bucket of rocks in there. Got pulled over real quick, push clutch in everything sounds smooth like it should, let clutch out, terrible metal on metal rattle. Can't wait to get back in my own truck up in Detroit.bigred81 Thanks this. -
Rolled into the Detroit terminal about 8 hours late Monday morning (due to truck breakdown and replacement) so they said dock it, they will unload in the morning. Now just waiting til sometime Wednesday morning for the insurance to be turned on my truck and start looking for another laod out of here.

So after arriving in Detroit terminal looking for an outbound, wasn't looking too promising Thursday night so called and booked a Friday morning load going to North Carolina. Called up Charlotte terminal and scored a cross country run to the Seattle area 6 day run through the blitz gauntlet. Went through 4 open scales yesterday and 4 closed scales this morning.
In other news it has been very nice to open up the speedo to 75 and pass up some of these slow pokes out here. -
Meant to mention on the broker load, this has happened a few times in the past too-- get to final and they say no one called for appointment. This place said that plus he told me I was at the wrong address. I find it hard to believe someone would place an order on a load board or broker with a specific address and date time to be there with their product that they are surprised when it shows up.
I asked the broker because this has happened to me before, whose job is it to book the appointment times? If it if my job, I want more money, but he said my job is to just deliver it. I sat for several hours waiting at the new location for unload so the broker guy revises my rate con and got me more money. Of course I only get 92% of that accessorial pay come to find out.
I'm putting together a list of questions to ask the broker every time I book a load
1. Dogs OK?
2.Hazmat?
3. Lumpers?
4.How heavy is it?
5.How many miles are you going to pay on that?
6. Did you make an appointment time?Loke Thanks this. -

Asking the broker how many miles they are going to pay is pointless. Transactions with brokers are just a flat rate for the load and not calculated by the mile. Pretty much every load I have booked the total rate was like $1000, $1025, $1050 or $1075. Had a few that totaled up differently usually after detention pay or accessorials are added.
