This was foreseeable and you can only blame yourself for that, next time you'll know to look there first...Live and learn...

What I find sad is after 27yrs you are penniless and had nothing to fall back on...Yeah, things happen to us, but you're no spring chicken, you knew that too...Not saying, just saying...Good luck to you in the future...

Well from the comments, I gather that most drivers here are well informed, very stable in their finances, money in the bank, good credit rating, in other words they have never or ever will need any help and most of the drivers here have never known what driving under a union contract is.

And what union contract has to do with anything? And yes you spend your twenties messing up, and learning from it. So when you're in your forties you know what works in live and what doesn't.

A reply is a complete waste of time. Is it any wonder that trucking isn't in worse shape than it is now?

I realize you're being sarcastic, but the reality is, the company didn't leave him stranded and penniless, his lack of preparation did...But he had family willing to help and that's a beautiful thing!!!!! Maybe others will live and learn from this...

Regardless of what the driver could or should have done leaving someone stranded on the other side of the Country is wrong.

Those union contracts really did a lot of good when good ol mr hoffa handed their pensions over to the mob.

Not a one of us is disagreeing. Basically we are just stating that if you are proactive, do your research BEFORE hiring, be responsible for yourself and hold yourself accountable, then these things won't happen. You have to take care of yourself in this world cause no one else will, or should. And it's full of scumbags out to screw you over.

Wals is correct here. Spot on (usually he's horribly wrong, poor guy!, lol). To not have anything, an emergency credit card, no emergency cash, really? What the company did sucked. But for him to go to a crap company and not have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of is his fault.
