My fiancé was an owner operator with swift for 6 months. In that time he got some violations but was NOT considered a high risk driver till he hung up the phone on the lady from safety and told her he was going to look for another job cause swift was too stressful being as they always say they have no freight. The next day I personally talked to his driver manager explaining that he was upset and has no other plans to go to another company. Thinking it was squashed we kept moving and got a load to El Paso. Well we were at our home terminal the day before and no sign of any issues then we get to El Paso and they take our pre assigned load to Atlanta off and after tons of phone calls to find out why they tell my fiancé over the phone they are terminating his contract in El Paso!!!! They stranded us with no money, no means of getting back to Phoenix and were completely unreasonable. It was 110 degrees and we had our dog as well. There has got to be a way to stop them from doing such an awful thing to drivers. I'm asking anyone what I can do to stop this insanity and get these large trucking companies to not be able to do such a thing. Needless to say my fiancé got hired three hours later from another company where they helped us get a rent a car and a hotel once we arrived in Phoenix.

    scottied67 and Dinomite Thank this.

You have to watch what you say and how you say it when talking to the COMPANY OFFICE STAFF , get them irked and with a few key strokes on their computer they can make your life rather miserable.

Hanging up on safety is pretty much where you hung your self. Need to learn to keep your cool and if you ever do decide ur going to look for another job wait until ur back in ur area before you spout off.

If your fiancé was an owner/operator with Swift, why didn't he just drive his truck back to Phoenix?

Just wondering, when did it become normal for wives, fiancés and girlfriends to call a drivers place of employment and complain about anything?

This is why experienced truckers say "HAVE CASH RESERVES FOR RAINY DAYS IF YOU ARE AN OWNER OPERATOR."

Mine called my employer one time about my pay without me knowing. Next thing you know she is best friends with the payroll girl. Never had a problem getting paid on time again.

What he said. Sign your truck on with someone else and get working.

Yep. The asinine corporate culture at swift is alive and well. As a ex swift driver I think its best that you, OP, move on and realize there is more money to be made. Chalk it up as a lesson learned to just keep your cool, punch a wall, throw a cinder block, hit a few golf balls at the driving range, workout, whatever to get your steam out.....swift isn't worth the misery we sometimes get on the road.
The corporate schmucks at 2200 75th ave in PHX have no idea what you go through. Good luck on your next endeavor.

    Cromwell Thanks this.
