there are jack knifed semi's around here daily in all types of weather.
mega's and can haulers sitting in the middle lane for 30 miles backing up the trucks on the freeway.
wrecked semi trucks paralyzing traffic in the emerald city weekly.
most trucks cant stay in their lane when you pass them.
i work my shift and get home safe as possible but the trucker says im the problem because im not making card board signs and waving at these truck drivers

Your looking at it in the wrong perspective... Of course you didn't know it then, but you do now!
That was not a Truck Driver you tried to warn, that was a throttle jockey pretending to be a truck driver, a true truck driver will show common courtesy and respect!! At least until you act stupid as this guy did with you.

I dont recall saying you were the problem bc you didn't make signs to alert other drivers of their problems. In fact, I went back and read it again to make certain I didn't say that.

What I DID say was, in not so many words, if you are turning a blind eye to a safety issue and not attempting to alert that driver... YOU are part of the problem.

But... to be fair and politically correct, I offer to you my most sincere and humble apologies.

I will try to adopt your strategy when I become tempted to warn Captain Tunnel Vision that there is a 400lb boulder wedged beneath his tandems or that his brakes are on fire , possibly risking the 3.1 placarded load he's transporting. Why ? Hell ! I'm past him now.. the turmoil is in my rear view. ###### ! RIGHT ?

I believe 98% actually would wanna try to help someone. That 2% really looms large , though.
Sorry if I've misinterpreted your reply.

just this past week. in vegas traffic. i had a truck roll down his window so i could tell him his tow bar was on fire. he was bobtail towing a semi backwards. when he was rolling at a good speed. it looked like a bon fire.

    dude just kept on rolling.

    like i said.
i walk around my assigned equipment at each unloading event several times a day.
we keep moving with many trucks so our customers dont have to shut their mills down.
we dont have time to stop at a truckstop or take an exit to make signs.
we expect bad operators to screw up and know many alternate routes
    good luck patrolling the interstates.
i believe the new 14 hour clock dot regs compromises safety in many ways and drivers not stopping for tire and equuipment checks is one of them.

Being stupid is your right as an American. Posting signs is not allowed by most neighborhood associations.

I see lights out, tire chains dragging, drivers texting, roll up doors open, obvious flats/blowouts, brakes smoking, and a hundred other things. I don't have a CB anymore because the average cb user is within hailing distance of being non functional retarded. The vulgarity and filth outweighs almost all use I might get out of it. Not to mention the lies other drivers (tons of owner ops in particular) like to give purposely bad advice over the radio to newbies who decided to ask over cb.

I do what I can to let the other drivers know something is up, but they are usually passing me at about 20mph faster than my truck goes.

Coming back from SFO in the four wheeler last night, one guy was dragging a trailer with a stuck brake, and it was smoking pretty good by them time he got to Fernley. A quick hit on the horn and pointing to the back of the trailer, and he took the next exit.

Fast forward (literally), and10 miles outside of Battle Mountain, a young guy is pulling a van with a blown out outside rear tire (just a few whisps of sidewall left on the rim) at 75 mph, ear buds in, dazed and confused look on his face, and completely ignores gestures and honking.

Finally decided to let the highway patrol explain the problem to him, before he blows out the other tire with a family of five in a minivan next to him.....
