Every time I pick up a preloaded trailer that's a TA9 series I'm crossing my fingers
For those who think it's no big deal well it is a big deal when a customer rejects you because they want the tandems slide to the rear but they won't slide and then you go have to blow half your day going to a repair shop to get the trailer fixed all of which you won't get paid for. Yup that's happened to me twice now. One time was a quick fix where a pin needed to be hammered in from the passenger side, the other time forever.
I've asked around and nobody says much about it... there's no way I'm just this unlucky with trailers.
Since day one this has been a huge problem for me.Dominick253 and 91B20H8 Thank this. -
So with Schneider being such a large company, with PLENTY of money... why don't they get rid of the trailers that are old and buy new ones? I understand the initial expense, but that is a cost of doing business. And another thing...why should the lease operator have to foot the bill for trailer repair when Schneider owns the trailers?
Dominick253 Thanks this. -
You misread what I said.. I said "which you won't get paid for".
I don't pay to fix their trailers, it's their trailers. I was saying nobody is paying my fuel or paying me during the hours I spend babysitting a POS trailer being fixed.Dominick253 and Moneyleg Thank this. -

Gotcha

I always carry a hammer and do what I can. My 1st company, Conway Truckload, it was a common problem as well. Fairly rare with Crete.

When I get an empty I always go for the newest one. If I have to get an old one I make sure the tandems work.
This trailer I have now the handle won't pull out all the way sooo I can't release the pins.
Schneider does have a lot of new trailers. I've had a few 2016 trailers recently as well but they just need to get the 10+ year old ones off the road.Dominick253 and xlsdraw Thank this. -
