What some of us here think is that the new (soon to be expected tolls, but when no one knows anymore) start collecting the money, now expected to be $30 (much less then first price), is that ALL that toll money is SUPPOSED to go towards the new bridges that are needed.
But many radio talk shows have already started blasting that, saying, that many of the politicians will dip into that money, for their own special interest programs. Which many in the state truly do believe will happen.
As a perfect example, NONE of that $15 Million dollars collected for the Pawtucket bridge replacement EVER WENT to the new bridge, but into the state's GENERAL FUND, which in no time at all, was GONE.....
No one trust's any plotitician. and that's what they are, "a bunch of plotters".

It IS unfair, as it singles out one segment of vehicle population. One toll for all, not one toll for one.2Girls_1Truck and flyingmusician Thank this. -
There are no easy answers, but the most obvious is that we have to stop electing sneaky, white collar thieves into office and get better representation of working folks. People who know what middle class means. -
I have a very good friend that told me what he does every election.
he votes OUT all the incumbents.
I now do the same, if you cannot get your shyte done in the 2, or 4, or 6 year term you were elected to, then you're a POS plotitician..2Girls_1Truck Thanks this. -
In the dying days of the Roman Empire, elections had become so expensive that they scarcely afford to call one. Politicians were simply perpetually running to be re-elected, and this is characteristic of empires in collapse. A perpetual election cycle, where the only goal is to few the-elected, governance be darned.
Alas, they've all but removed classics from curriculum (those running to be re-elected that is) so kids will never realize our peril.flyingmusician Thanks this. -
I asked one time a history teacher (retired) about the Korean War. I had an uncle in the US Coast Guard that had to be there.
He said "they don't talk/teach about THAT war anymore, it's too old", or about the Great Wall of China, either, again, too old.
I said, "uh...history IS ABOUT OLD....isn't it"?
He said, yeah, the school dept wants "up to date history these days"..!!
So anything last week is good..?? He said, pretty much so.....
Here comes your next group of truck drivers.2Girls_1Truck and flyingmusician Thank this. -
We are now in our decline. It's only a matter of time before we are no more than a 2nd rate player on the world stage, due primarily to reasons 1 and 2. Not in my lifetime, but probably nearing the end of my 30-something children's lives and most certainly into my grandchildren's lifetimes.
At least I won't be alive to see it but they will remember my words.2Girls_1Truck Thanks this. -

Many years ago, I attended night school for vehicle emission's, when I was a mechanic. 2 other mechanics knew each other.
One said, when he and his wife have their yearly sex encounter, the other one asked, "you get it that often"?
I nearly fell on the floor.Last edited: Jun 20, 2015
