I know little about the incident, this fellow drove for the same company as I, he was going into LA during morning heavy traffic a 4 wheeler with two thugs in it was causing him trouble and were waving two pistols around towards him. He had a revolver in the glove box, pulled it out pointing it at the driver and when he did so they quit and exited I-10. A ways up the road a trooper pulled him over, arrested him taking him to the jail. He told them about the two waving pistols toward him and their license plate number, yet it did no good. That was in the 70's. Truckers gets the bottom end deal most often.

One well placed shot from any gun can do the job; let's stop talking like multiple shots from a lower caliber or a single shot from a higher caliber is a definite because we both know it's not the case.

Yeah the larger the caliber the more stopping power it has but you pay in accuracy and ammo. Even a .22 is arguably the deadliest handgun in ideal circumstances but overall the 9mm serves you better tactfully than any caliber; there's a reason the navy seals and fbi prefer it.

If you don't keep handguns in your personal vehicles and you find your life in danger. Your trying to get to that, right? I mean since it's the only thing in your personal vehicle.

This has strayed a bit off topic so I'll jump in, I'm a big fan of the 1911, I own 3 of them. That said my CCW when I choose to carry is either a 9mm or a 380. At a distance I would be using it to save my life I'm effectively lethal with either one and they're less bulky. There's lots of opinions on the subject but my personal opinion is that it doesn't matter how big of a hole I put in their chest I just need to make sure I put a hole in their chest, that sort of thing has a tendency to stop a threat.

Not all of them. Buddy of mine preferred the Desert Eagle in .50 cal when he was a seal and was glad he carried one,

This ↑ and this ↓ are two very different things and nobody said anything about just whipping a rifle out in traffic without legal provocation.

It shouldn't be this hard for you to connect the dots. Under those circumstances your inclined to use it if you're in your personal vehicle meaning more than likely you're either in or near traffic.

I'm referring to the official firearm of the navy seals. Of course there will be exceptions but that speaks for one man far and few in between.

I feel the exact same way.

Oh, the official firearm, that makes sense. The decision was made by the government.

You do not always have to protect yourself from other people either. I don't want 3 guns that I have to have different ammunition for. I want one gun that I know intimately and know that I can rely on. I also live in bear country, grizzly and black, and I would put my 45 up against your 9mm any day of the week when it comes to having to stop a bear. I am not trying to stop him over time, I want him to stop NOW, not piss him off.

Bear changes things. I'll take a 44 mag please. 454 is cool too. Nothing like hurling a Volkswagen at 1500fps at someone

The .45ACP cartridge was adopted along with the 1911 based upon ballistics and reliability.

The military moved to the 9mm because that's the round the rest of the NATO countries used, and the 9mm was easier for women and others with smaller hands to handle.

Leave it to the government to adopt a round with less stopping power in order to accommodate weaker soldiers and conform to what other nations with inferior militaries are doing.

Whether you indented it to or not this post could convey to others the idea of whipping a gun out in traffic without reason, or legal provocation. Which is NOT something I stand for or approve of. So ya you bet I corrected you on it and I did so without talking to you in a demeaning way.

I can't connect the dots? Why are you talking down to me Tonitos? Is it because someone else called your caliber of choice too little and a girls caliber and now your feelings are hurt or what?
