Rather than over simplifying the calculus to a Good vs Bad answer, why not make a list of what you want from a job and post some of your criteria?
How long/far are you willing to travel? What would be ideal, if you could choose?
(I'd rather work 10 days straight and take 4 days off than be home everyday and only get a few hours in the evening and a Saturday and Sunday. It takes me longer than that to decompress and I hated it)
Are you willing to run van, reefer, flatbed or specialized? Which would you choose, if you could? Are you trained for tanker? Hazmat? B-trains?
Do you prefer to run days or nights?
Are you willing to run as a team if you could earn more than $1000/week?
Does the make/model/age of the truck matter? Only want standard/auto transmission? Fridge? Pets? Passengers?
Do you have a criminal record or active demerits on your MVR?
Do you prefer one on one contact with your dispatcher or less personal means like Qualcomm?
Even company policy like paid by cheque or direct deposi, paid weekly, bi-weekly or bi-monthly can have a huge impact on your quality of life.
There's so much more math than just good or bad and it's different for everyone. Figure out what you want, what you're willing to tolerate and what is an absolute no-go for you and try to get some input from drivers. The more you know... -
Keep in mind this is the internet, where you can find something negative about anyone on here. Ever tried researching car/truck reliability? There is always that one guy that thinks even the best make/model is a unreliable POS.
Take some of these reviews with a grain of salt, pretty easy to pick out if it's a legitimate gripe with a company or a bitter employee refusing to realize that might the problem is THEM. That's the way I look at these as I'm doing my own research.Captain Zoom Thanks this. -
Thanks for all the input.

Notice my screen name. Made about what your looking for when I was there. That was before they started the lease trucks scam. I would talk to some company drivers thier first
See how thier doing before I jumped into one of thier trucks now. Good equipment, excellent shop, apu and power inverters in every truck. -
Try to find a dedicated route that will guarantee miles. Without that, you could get a thousand a week, but it is too random to promise.

Check FreyMiller out of OKC.

My first year (at .30/mile) and my second year running LTL were the only years I earned less than $50k/year.
My problem with dedicated runs and salary are that there is really no chance to earn more money either, and I wasn't happy having my income capped, it seemed like there was never a chance to make more money, just some weeks where it took longer to make the same money. -
+1
I don't know if I'm just misinformed or maybe my region is better but if I can't make $50K+ within first couple of years of driving it's not really worth my time especially having to sacrifice being away from my family.
