its not right, its makes you to tired driving too slow, it really does

 

Nah - I keep awake by worrying about the 4-wheelers driving like loonies.

Come to think of it, I worry about the other truckers driving like loonies. Atlanta area comes to mind...that place is insane. Never saw so many trucks tailgating at high speed in my life.

 

I agree there. I recovered a truck a few days ago and when I made it back to my truck, I got in and the radio seemed to have some sort of short. It was turning on and off without me doing anything, and I could only turn the volume up. I was waiting to talk to one of the guys in the shop and overheard him telling one of the mechanics a list of things to do to the truck he was bringing in--including turning down the speed. I told them it'll work fine the way it is and high-tailed out of there.

 

That only gets better! Picture yourself in the bunk, truck is off...you're almost asleep and the cb and radio come on.....then your gauges start cycling like you turned the key in the ignition. After calling maintenance, who thinks that it is the funniest thing in the world (after they get over the "it's doing what?"), and trying a few of their ideas, you are sitting in the driver's seat, the truck is running, and the key is in your hand with the ignition turned off. They had it in the shop, Gary and Marshfield, twice, and never could figure out why that happenes.

 

After reading your post I've got no complaints about my little freightshaker. Sounds like your truck is possessed. Looks like all the big ones and a few other companies are turning the speed down to save a few million on their profit margins. Hard to justify that when you're in an accident and that drunk four wheeler plows under your DOT bar at 70 and you're doing 60. That unforgiving state trooper might say something like "you were not keeping up with the flow of traffic" It's your fault. LOL! Just a thought.

 

One of the mechanics suggested that. It's had issues ever since we picked it up....the above mentioned electrical problem, the lights quit working ( all of them), the turbo has been replaced, and the engine brake doesn't work unless you turn the dash lights out. All of that on an 07 Freightliner, with a little over 100,000 miles on it.

 

Oh you guys sound like what we've been going through up here. They turned my boyfriend's truck from 72 back to 63. Did it to all of them on the yard. First trip back to GA (we live in NC) the truck wouldn't get over 25 before it was rattling like the whole cab was going to cave in. They can turn the truck back to save on gas, but jeopardize the driver not changing a da*n tire.
