They quit making the 7.3 in 2003. #### shame.

My advice would be to get rid of the 6.4, they dont have a proven history at all.

I didn't realize the 7.3 had been taken out of the pot. I quit caring for new trucks in 2000.

You are not the only one. The older model trucks were made to be worked hard. These newer models are more toys just for show.

Supposedly, them are way undertuned, according to my brother, who aint that bright, but hes does have same truck..He put a programmer to it, gave him 1, 2 or 3, 1 was for towing, 2 for sport, 3 for race...He's happy setting it to 1 only...They told him to not run it on 3 untill he opens up the breathing...(airbox, throttle body, exhaust) etc etc..He's a wuss so he's not pursuing that...If he lets me borrow the truck im puttin it on 3 and boiling the living dogcrap out of his tires...
I will try to find the name of his product...It wasnt one of the common ones..about $400, plug and play, all automatic..He had the option to adjust all other parameters, which is cool..

He's just pulling big toy hauler around tho...

I think he did mention his gas milage in the negative..LOL (not really, but he did take a big hit on setting2, setting1 improved his milage and his power, a little

After the 7.3 came the 6.0 then the 6.4, fun to play with but neither are engines I would want to risk my lively hood on.

The 6.7 is the newest and the only diesel actually made by ford. Seems to be alright so far.

You could destroy your brothers engine in a matter of minutes. Not something you want to be responsible for.

I have always wondered why you guys tend to go with or stay with the pickup truck platform?

I just think a medium duty M2 with the 8.3 would be so much better suited for what you do, I DO understand that empty mileage may not be as good, but, you may only ever need one truck, I have had medium duties worked hard ever day see a million miles.
