If your in AZ check with system transport. I passed a CMC load today heading into AZ I would get bored if that's all I had on my flat but at least no tarp

That CMC out of Phoenix is a good deal. Too bad I don't live there.
I plan to do flatbed with Swift eventually GWS but will be starting out with dry van/western 11. Recruiter said that way I can understand the process and when I head down to Arizona I can do the training at some point.

I'm just closing in on 100 hours with my mentor now. My first paycheck was $250 after taxes. That's basically orientation pay. I'll go ahead and post what my next check comes out to next week which will be my first real check from training.

I didn't have to wait for a flatbed mentor but I did have to take a 24 hour bus ride to meet up with him. It all depends on how badly your driver coordinator wants you out there.
Flatbeds at swift will always have miles if you stick to the triangle. Coils, Vans, Frame rails, and Chassis are all on the triangle. Vans are so easy you might as well be dragging a van behind you. I've heard good things about Roehl and terrible things about Swift, but because of all that you hear Swift has more than exceeded my expectations so far. Especially when it comes to how they're treating me.
Today I called driver services and they actually brought up my brothers wedding and confirmed the dates I'd need off for it. That shocked the hell out of me.

Thanks Casanova! Look forward to it. I was real gung-ho about Roehl and had heard so many good things about them, then just before signing offer some things just started to get wonky. Holding back until I get some some info. Swift is in the lead at this point, lol

I thought swift paid $450 a week during training? I know at the company I'm with I was paid $500 a week during training. What do you guys get for tarp pay, stop pay, and over dimensional loads?

Swift does not pay during their CDL training, but after school while out with a mentor for 200 hours you are payed $9.50 per hour for driving and your terminals minimum wage for any on duty hours other than driving until solo then .37 flatbed

Training pay is hourly as stated above. I've been able to run my 11 out almost everyday out here so far so call it 70 hours/week at $9.50/hour plus all of your on duty time, that's paid at $7.25/hour for me as I'm in Indiana. Better than pay - I've already gotten to take a reset at home and I'll be taking another at home reset in a couple days. That's my mentor working with me but even so I live 3 hours from the terminal.
Tarp pay is $30 but I've seen our DL pay $37. Additional stop pay is $25 each stop. In orientation I asked about oversize loads, Swift rarely pulls them. Sales won't seek them out like some companies do but they won't turn the load down. If in the rare chance you do get to haul one with swift I'm sure your DL and you could work out a little bonus pay because I doubt they have a standard for it.
I've noticed Swift's policy seems to just be a bottom line type of ordeal. If you're not happy with something or you're feeling cheated you can call and they will work it out to benefit you.
For instance, this morning we pulled into freightliner to pick up a preload, there was a mix up and the trailer wouldn't be loaded till after 5pm. Called DL, said we didn't want to wait around, now we're headed to Ohio to grab a coil that's headed 1300 miles to Laredo and getting paid to drag an empty trailer 500 miles to pick it up. Beats waiting around for 8 hours to get a 400 mile load

My only issue is the 4 week training with a mentor. Makes me want to go join Schneider.

You won't run a flatbed with Schneider. I don't know much about their company drivers, I've only ever looked into their lease. I'd consider leasing on with SNI though, mainly due to freightwipper's thread. Guy is one hell of a recruiter lol
